Philly Sports World:
Finally giving DeSean Jackson a contract extension after a holdout and sometimes contentious 2011 season is just one of the things you can point to in identifying a change in the Eagles' culture.
When I found out that the Eagles had moved up in the NFL draft last night, I had to do a double take. I stared extra hard at the screen to make sure what I was seeing wasn’t some imagined mirage. Not only did the Philadelphia Eagles move up in the drafting order, they didn’t use their pick for some reclamation project. Drafting Fletcher Cox showed that they weren’t just offering lip service about taking the best available player.
It is customary inPhiladelphiato lament the possibilities of how our favorite football team will blow opportunities in the draft. Will they trade down, sacrificing quality for quantity? Will they trade out of the first round altogether, hoping to strike it rich with the 92 7th round picks they’ve stockpiled? (of course, I kid)
Last year the Eagles used their fi...

Now that the Philadelphia Eagles have their shiny new DT Fletcher Cox, who are some players they could target on Day 2 of the 2012 NFL draft?
Lavonte David would look good as an Eagle!! Photo: giantsgab.com
The Eagles currently hold three picks on Day 2: Nos 46, 51 and 88. There are several good players still on the board, many of which could be potential targets. I’m going...
Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Didinger said that of all of the defensive linemen in this year’s draft, DT Fletcher Cox was the best.
That’s high praise. And there was a lot more of it from inside of the Eagles organization.
In the lead up to the draft, Cox was described universally as a tremendous athlete. At 6’4, 298 lbs, he ran the 40 in 4.79, amazing speed for a player...
The latest buzz amongst Philadelphia Eagles beat writers, fans, bloggers and draftniks is now that Asante Samuel is gone, the team will look to replace him with an early-round pick (first or second round) in the 2012 NFL draft .
Call me crazy, but I just don’t agree.
We’ve known all along that Samuel would likely be traded before the draft, or during the draft...
One round down, six round to go. Tonight is the second and third rounds of the NFL Draft, which I can guarantee will be more interesting than the first round. The first round of the draft is usually pretty obvious with little to no surprises.
While I was wrong with what player I thought the Eagles would select, I did get the position correct. The Philadelphia Eagles traded up to...
I got my hands on the Eagles’ draft party, and while you had to pay for food, it was a good barometer of Eagles’ fans.
The number one (unofficial) Sean Young gave his thumbs up on the Eagles pick of Flectcher Cox at the 12th overall pick.
“I love the pick,” an enthusiastic Young said, after being shown on ESPN.
The Eagles traded the 15th overall, a fourth and sixth round...
It’s draft day–who’s excited?! In a few hours, we will shift from trying to anticipate the Eagles’ first round draft pick to dissecting their selection.
But until then, let’s enjoy the last few moments of speculation.
Draft expert Mike Mayock of the NFL Network released his one and only mock draft yesterday, and on it he had Philadelphia selecting a player that some may...
The Eagles have announced that they will retire Brian Dawkins' No. 20 jersey during a home game next season. Dawkins will be the eighth Eagle to have his number retired.
Per an official release from the Philadelphia Eagles, here is a summary of the team's selections and moves from Day 2 of the 2012 NFL Draft.
The Eagles' selections in the 2nd and 3rd rounds:
The Philadelphia Eagles made the following moves last night:
· Selected LB Mychal Kendricks (2nd round - 46th overall)
· Traded the 51st pick to the...
The Philadelphia Eagles have selected Miami offensive tackle Brandon Washington with the 200th overall pick in the NFL draft.
Washington was chosen with Philadelphia's second pick in the sixth round. The 6-foot-4, 325-pound Washington started 25 games at Miami and projects as a guard in the NFL.
Scouting reports say Washington is a versatile lineman with size and strength and...
The Pittsburgh Steelers knew they didn’t have the money to give unrestricted free agent Mike Wallace the type of payday he wanted so they decided to engage their star wide receiver in a game of chicken instead. And they played it masterfully. Rather than be held hostage by Wallace’s salary demands they let him test the market. Not for free though, they set a price for teams that...
Another potential sleeper in this year's draft, Kentucky's Danny Trevathan:
Great speed and pursuit on plays. Trevathan has great fundamentals and is a tackling machine, as he led the SEC and ranked #5 nationally. He also was mentioned for All-American awards. He will add to any team’s linebacker depth chart.
Small at 6’0”. If he...
