New York Giants
On a night where many in New York were still suffering from the after effects of Hurricane Sandy, there were a lucky few that attended a hard fought battle between the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers. It was a sloppy game by both teams but Pittsburgh managed to pull out a big victory, 24-20.The first quarter was a dud as both teams punted on their first two possessions of the game. New York quarterback Eli Manning made the first mistake of the game when he threw an interception on New York’s third drive, late in the 1st quarter. Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took advantage and led Pittsburgh 58 yards on 11 plays, capped by a four yard touchdown pass to wide out Emmanuel Sanders.Manning and New York responded on their next drive as they drove 72 yards in only eight plays. Running back Andre Brown plunged in for a one yard touchdown and the score was knotted at 7-7.It took less than two minutes for the next score. This time it was Roethlisberger’s turn to make a mis...
BEST OF MAXIM
Steelers fans can't be happy with the officiating in Pittsburgh's game against the Giants.
Ben Roethlisberger was charged with a fumble when Osi Umenuiora hit Big Ben's arm he went to throw, and though it looked like he unintentionally let go of the ball, his arm was moving forward. The call should have been ruled either a tuck rule or simply a forward...
As we see each week, our prognosticator extraordinaire here on SA, Troyisabeast43 breaks down how things look for the Steelers. After the win against the Giants this past Sunday, Pittsburgh has completely turned their season around and is now firmly in position to overtake the Ravens in the AFC North in 2 weeks. Although they can’t look past the Chiefs this coming Monday night...
After delivering so many times with late comebacks and big performances, Eli Manning and the New York Giants couldn't provide a happy ending for the storm-ravaged fans who came to see them against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Manning not only came short and looked out of sorts in a 24-20 loss Sunday, his passing statistics were his worst in almost four years. He finished 10 of 24...
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- In a game billed as the battle of two first-round quarterbacks from the Class of 2004, the Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger outlasted the Giants' Eli Manning by copying Manning's fourth-quarter comeback act to steer Pittsburgh to a 24-20 win over New York at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. The Steelers (5-3) won their third game in a row, while the Giants...
Peyton Manning has won four NFL MVP awards. The Denver Broncos quarterback is no stranger to what it takes to win the NFL MVP. In fact, although he did not play a single snap during the 2011 NFL season, which turned out to be his final one with the Indianapolis Colts, many felt as if Manning still deserved a few votes for MVP as it proved just how important he was to his team and...
By Christopher DiMarino
For the first time this season, the Pittsburgh Steelers earned a victory with conviction in a game that wasn’t a cakewalk. This game played out how I would have thought it would had you asked me before the season started. A stout run defense took away the spark that made the Washington Redskins so successful. Ben Roethlisberger was...
Leave it to Mother Nature to take a game with an infinite amount of story lines and make another one. Looking at the game alone, it was already arguably the marquee match-up of the week. It pits the Super Bowl champions who have been excellent to this point against a Steelers team who has seemed to find their way over the past couple of weeks. It's also a match-up between...
Eli has had a rough couple of games. In two weeks Eli combined to go 25-53 for 319 yards and two interceptions. Not exactly what you’d call elite. Giants bros are starting to lose patience in their two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback…take @Cheese_Nigga_ for example: “F*ck all you ***** ass salty ass Giants fans. Eli Manning looks like Charizard.”
We even had guys threatening...
The inadvertent whistle in the Panthers-Redskins game turned undue attention to the officials in Week 9, and three more controversial situations occurred in which the judgment on the field also came into question.
The Game: Miami at Indianapolis
The Situation: The Dolphins had the ball, second-and-1, on their own 30 with 5:26 remaining in the game. Indianapolis led, 23-20.
CINCINNATI -- Peyton Manning came back from throwing a pair of interceptions in the third quarter to rally the Denver Broncos to a 31-23 victory against the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday afternoon at Paul Brown Stadium. Manning, named the AFC Player of the Month for October, threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to tight end Joel Dreessen with 11:47 left in the fourth quarter for a go-ahead...
1. The Steelers must negate the Giants’ pass rush by establishing the run early.
2. The Steelers must use their wide receivers well against a less-than-stellar Giants’ secondary.
3. The Steelers must have at least a two-score lead going into the fourth quarter. Eli Manning is at his best in the fourth quarter with a QB rating of 103.5.
4. The Steelers must find someone to defend...
