This 3 round mock draft would make Josh Allen happy
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NFL Draft is less than a week away, and teams are preparing to welcome their 2024 rookie classes.

In a recent three-round mock draft, the Buffalo Bills successfully traded up on day two to double up at WR.

Round 1, Pick 28: Ladd McConkey, WR, Georiga

Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

"The Bills shocked the NFL world by trading away Stefon Diggs, and now their WR room sits near the bottom of the league. While many would have liked to see the Bills trade up for a bigger target I have them taking one of the best route runners in this class in Ladd McConkey. Josh Allen helped Cole Beasley earn a 2nd team All-Pro in 2020. Imagine what he could do with a player like Ladd who I think is a much more well rounded player than Beasley."

The Bills would have probably preferred to land a bigger target than McConkey with this pick, but I think his fit in this offense would be tremendous. I think they would still need to add another outside WR, but McConkey can play in the Y (slot) or on the outside as a Z WR. He's one of the best route runners in this class and would make Josh Allen's job so much easier. McConkey may not be the WR 1 Bills fans want, but he will be very productive at the pro level and will be on the roster to give the Bills time to find that true WR 1 for Allen and their offense.

Round 2, Pick 60: Jaden Hicks, S, Washington State

The Bills offseason has been full of hard decisions, including to part ways with their safety duo of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. And so far, they have added veteran Mike Edwards through free agency, leaving a starting spot open. If they chose to use the draft to fill this need, Washington State's Jaden Hicks. Hicks can play either safety spot, but I think his ability as a ball hawk would be best used at FS. Edwards' flexibility to play either spot as well would allow the Bills to get into training camp and decide where Hicks fits best, then move Edwards accordingly.

Trade:

The Bills picks 128 (4th) and 144 (5th) to the Los Angeles Rams for pick 99.

Round 3, Pick 99: Johnny Wilson, WR, Florida State

Rich Storry-USA TODAY Sports

To finish up this mock draft, the Bills moved up to grab another WR. This time, they landed 6'6 WR Johnny Wilson out of Florida State. There have been multiple people who think Wilson is better suited at TE (Myself being one), but Wilson moves well for his size, and if you paired him with a QB like Josh Allen, who will utilize his size and speed to his benefit, it could be a match made in heaven. Wilson would compete for a starting outside job on day one, and his size and ability to stretch the field would allow McConkey to work in the middle of the field, where he is better suited anyway.
