Well that sucked. It was actually a very good win, but one that was overshadowed by injuries.

-I feel awful for Terrell Thomas. Torn ACL. Done for year. Tough break for a good player and good guy. Freak thing to. Bumped knees with JPP, landed wrong. Thomas brought a lot to this defense. For one, he was the leading tackler. He’s a physical corner who can blitz. He had 10 picks the last two years. He was primed for a big year. He and Webster formed a great corner duo. Now, there’s a lack of depth. With Bruce Johnson out for the season, and Prince Amukamara not back until at least Week 4, the number 2 corner becomes Aaron Ross. He played well yesterday, but has not had a good preseason. Brian Witherspoon, who has had a good camp and has played very well in person, sprained his left MCL. So the third corner becomes Michael Coe. Depth is virtually non existent after that. They’ll have to sign someone. Someone like Kelvin Hayden, Lito Sheppard could fit in nicely. They need someone. Coe is not a third corner. Ross has struggled. A veteran like Hayden or Sheppard would work.

-Aaron Ross needs to step up. Plain and simple. He played well covering Roy Williams last night. He’s not devoid of talent. He was a first round pick and has played well before. He needs to be consistent. Needs to focus more. We’ll see what happens.

-Antrel Rolle was drafted 8th overall as a corner. He was moved to safety, but he can play corner. Giants have some depth at safety, with Deon Grant, Tyler Sash and Derrick Martin. Rolle might play some corner.

-It’s still a tough loss for the Giants. Thomas was in a contract year. Could have done big things.

-There were positives to last night’s game. Brandon Jacobs looked like his old self. That touchdown run made Major Wright look like a 3rd grader who doesn’t know his left from his right. Great move.

-Bradshaw was good as well. Made a lot of plays after contact.

-Da’Rel Scott. Wow. He inserted himself into the third running back role. Ware played well too, but Scott ripped off a 97 yard TD run, and showed off that speed. He’s blazing.

-I love what Devin Thomas did on kick returns. He’s going to be the kick returner.

-Greg Jones was fantastic. Had the blocked punt. Making tackles all over the place. He was a tackling machine in college. He’s short; that’s why he slipped to the 6th round. But he can play football.

-Michael Boley didn’t play much, but played well.

-Congrats to Mark Herzlich who picked off a pass. Well deserved.

-Matt Dodge and Steve Weatherford continue to be neck and neck in the punting battle. Both have done very well.

-I thought Eli still looks a bit rusty. I’m not concerned, but I would like to see stronger and more accurate.

-Mario Manningham, you gotta hold onto the ball.

-David Carr looked really good. Both he and Sage have looked good. Another battle that’s going to go down to the wire.

-I think the Giants have some players in their young ‘backers: Jones, Herzlich, Jaicquan Williams, Phil Dillard and Spencer Paysinger have all looked really good throughout camp and in preseason.

-The lack of a tight end is worrying me. Yes, Daniel Coats had a TD, but he also was so offsides that he was already on his way to the GW Bridge. He’s more of a blocker anyway. I’m surprised they haven’t brought in anyone serious to compete.

-Will Beatty held his own against Peppers. Had one false start, but otherwise did well.

-Nerd interlude: I’m a nerd. Proud of it. One of the things that I would like to learn more about, and something that I think everyone should know how to do, is coding. This website is full of HTML, but it’s all templated and easy to use. I can’t create any of this. So, I found this website called CodeCademy, which is a really easy and interactive way to learn how to code. It’s a valuable skill to have, and CodeCademy makes it easy.

-David Baas had a really nice pull block.

-Michael Coe had Earl Bennett wrapped up on a punt return, and let him go. Your number 3 corner, ladies and gentlemen!

-I don’t think we can understate how big the Thomas loss is. It’s huge. He’s one of their best players. He makes plays. He’s going to be missed. But, someone is going to have to step up. Will it be Aaron Ross? Michael Coe? I don’t care as long as it gets done.

-Did we sell our health related soul for that Super Bowl a few years back? The amount of injuries on this team, year after year, is just mind boggling.
