Three BYU Players in the NFL Impacted by Monday's Free Agency Moves

We've reached the free agency portion of the NFL offseason. Monday was full of free agency signings across the league. Three former Cougars in the pros, in particular, were impacted Monday's free agency moves. None more than former BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki who signed a new deal with the New England Patriots.

1. Sione Takitaki

Takitaki spent the first five years of his career with the Cleveland Browns after being drafted in the third round. In five years, Takitaki tallied 269 tackles, 4 sacks, and 2 interceptions.

Takitaki signed a two-year deal with the New England Patriots.

2. Zach Wilson

The Jets have already cleared Zach Wilson to seek a trade. On Monday, however, the Jets officially signed Tyrod Taylor to be Aaron Rodgers' backup. That signing officially ends Wilson's time in New York. That's probably best for both parties at this point.

According to NFL insider Jonathan Jones, the Broncos have discussed trading for Zach Wilson or signing Sam Darnold. Darnold, however, signed with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night.

Now that Kirk Cousins has landed in Atlanta, the free-agent QB market should start to take shape. Broncos have discussed names like Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson, sources say. Jacoby Brissett and Joe Flacco are potential options in New England. Flacco could also return to Browns.

3. Jaren Hall

Speaking of the Minnesota Vikings, 2023 starter Kirk Cousin signed a deal with the Atlanta Falcons. In response, the Vikings signed Sam Darnold to a one-year deal. Sam Darnold's one-year deal has the potential to impact Hall's future in Minnesota. Now the Vikings have three quarterbacks on the roster in Jaren Hall, Sam Darnold, and Nick Mullens.
