The San Diego Chargers free safety has been selected to the Pro Bowl at last, the NFL announced on Tuesday, one of three Chargers players named to the annual All-Star game.
Tight end Antonio Gates and quarterback Philip Rivers were also selected.
Wide receiver Vincent Jackson (first), running back Ryan Mathews (second) and center Nick Hardwick (third) are alternates.
Weddle, in his fifth year, joins the Pro Bowl club after becoming the NFL's highest-paid safety in July when he signed a five-year, $40-million contract. Weddle leads the league with seven intereptions and has allowed a 29.3 quarterback rating, best among all defensive backs.
