Well, what do you know? Tiki Barber found a team willing to give him a look this offseason when the Miami Dolphins worked him out Tuesday. And according to Jay Glazer’s source, Barber looked “good.”
First Tiki sighting. Tiki Barber worked out yesterday w the Dolphins. Heard he looked good, Fins 1st wanna see how their current crop does. (@Jay_Glazer)
The Dolphins current depth at running back looks something like this:
Rookie Daniel Thomas is the clear number on on offense, figuring to get a majority share of touches this season. Offseason acquisition Reggie Bush will eat into his carries but function primarily as a receiving back. Then you’ve got Lex Hilliard — who touched the ball once last season — and Kory Sheets rounding out the depth chart, but it’s a question whether Sheets will make the final roster cut even though he’s boasted this offseason that he has “everything Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams had but more speed — 4.3 speed.”
Let’s keep in mind that Barber, now 36, left the Giants and the NFL in 2006 to pursue a career in broadcasting (and sandbag an ex-teammate from a television studio), so he hasn’t set foot on a field with pads in four years. Even if he does manage to snag a roster spot, don’t expect the former star running back to steal many carries this season.
