With Tim Tebow out of the National Football League again, the chatter will resume for him to give it a go in the Canadian Football League. Tebow cleared waivers over the weekend after being cut by the New England Patriots, meaning no NFL team was interested in bringing him in for the season. But that doesn’t mean his football career is over — there’s a game up in Canada that people have been thinking Tebow should try for some time. Tebow’s “quarterback guru,” Steve Clarkson, has joined that crowd. He told USA Today that Tebow should consider playing in the CFL if he hopes to play in the NFL again. “It’s time now to maybe just reconsider a different path to his ultimate dream,” Clarkson said, referring to Tebow’s goodbye message after being cut. “Tim might want to look to the CFL because he may have run out of options in the NFL. “Sitting is not an option for Tim. He’s ultra-competitive. He needs to stick to his strength, which is being in a competitive environment. … Clearly, football is still in his blood.” The Montreal Alouettes own Tebow’s rights in the CFL. While the Alouettes’ general manager made it clear that having his rights doesn’t necessarily mean Montreal will make a run at Tebow, the scenario is different now that Tebow won’t be starting this NFL season on a team. While some see the CFL as a lower level of competition where Tebow can hone his skills, others say the more wide-open game — with a wider field and more passes — would be difficult for Tebow, who has struggled with accuracy and is better on the ground.
