Everyone seems to think Tim Tebow has played his final game as a New York Jet. Don’t expect to hear that from the Jets coaching staff, though.
“He’s on the roster,” head coach Rex Ryan told USA Today on Tuesday during the NFL Annual Meeting. “What we’re talking about is competition. And he’ll get a chance to compete. We’ll see how the offseason plays out. But right now, Tim is on our roster.”
It’s interesting that Ryan continues to stress that Tebow is in contention for the starting spot, especially after he barely saw the field during Mark Sanchez‘s abomination of a season under center. The Jets have also picked up veteran David Garrard, who saw his last game action for Jacksonville in 2010, to compete with Sanchez, Tebow and third-year pro Greg McElroy.
In 2012, the Jets ranked 30th in the NFL in completion percentage (55.2), passing yards (2891), interceptions (19) and passer rating (68.3).
Ryan also called the prospect of bringing in the recently released ...

NO, NO, AND NO
Tim Tebow recently had a religious speaking engagement, and the rules for media attending the event were pretty darn strict.
Like a lying weasel, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan claims Tim Tebow will battle the immortal Mark Sanchez this offseason to become the team’s starting quarterback. The 25-year-old Tebow, who has thrown 17 touchdowns, against nine interceptions, for 2,422 yards in 14 starts, was acquired by Gang Green from the Denver Broncos for a fourth and sixth-round selection in last April’s...
The Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League would love to have Jets’ quarterback Tim Tebow.
Predators’ owner Brett Bouchy told the Orlando Sentinel that he’d love to have Tebow on his team.
“Tim would certainly want to first exhaust his opportunities in the NFL, but we’d love to have him,” Bouchy said, per ESPNNewYork.com. “I think he would definitely improve...
Rex Ryan in the past has delegated a lot of the play calling and choices about defensive scheme to his assistant coaches. Ryan who is entering the final year of his deal, and basically coaching as a lame duck is going out his way.
Ryan told the New York Daily News that even though Dennis Thurman is the defensive coordinator, it will be Ryan himself, making all the calls.
New York Jets coach Rex Ryan says the team is not actively pursuing a trade of star cornerback Darrelle Revis.
Speaking at the NFL owners meetings Tuesday, Ryan says it is not a foregone conclusion that the Jets will deal Revis, who is unhappy with his contract. But Ryan acknowledges any team will listen if another club calls about acquiring any player.
Revis missed most of last...
Since day one of the off-season Darrelle Revis said he wanted to stay with the New York Jets. Why a corner-back with his talents want to remain in the big Apple is anyone’s guess, there are plenty of teams in the NFL that could have benefited from Revis’s talents. Many of them would have probably extended his contract to make him an even richer man. Revis always said he didn’t...
If Dennis Rodman can hang out with Kim Jong Un in North Korea while watching a basketball game then Tim Tebow can play in the Arena League. Come on! Crazier things have happened, right?
Apparently the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League have offered the beleaguered quarterback a job should he become available and can't find any suitors in the...
Rex Ryan insists the Jets are not actively shopping All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis.
If anyone is curious, it appears that Mark Sanchez will be with the Jets for the 2013. In fact, he is not only going to be on the team, is in the lead to be the team’s starting quarterback.
According to the NY Daily News, Jets head coach Rex Ryan said that Sanchez will take “the first snap” when training camp rolls around in the summer. He did not say that Sanchez would...
Earlier today, offensive lineman Brandon Albert signed his franchise tender with the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports, the Chiefs are actively shopping Albert in hopes of trading him.
The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity, said the Chiefs aren’t desperate to move Albert but realize another team might offer him a better...
The New York Jets bolstered their pass rush and improved their currently shaky depth at outside linebacker by signing former San Diego Charger Antwan Barnes. This has been a long rumored move as Barnes has experience in Rex Ryan’s defense from the 2007 and 2008 season when both were in Baltimore. The Jets had expressed interest in Barnes in previous years but were never able to...
