Washington-redskins
Enough is enough. It's an issue that's been highlighted on this Giants blog again. And again. And again. And again. And again.  The Giants Tampa 2 defense seems to get a bit more porous with each passing week. For whatever reason, this team's personnel is not built for zone coverage. Whether it be through constantly biting on play action fakes or just sheer inability to adjust and react, the Giants' back seven continues to look lost in zone. Game after game we see linebackers at the second level allowing receivers to cross right in front of their face for easy completions in the ten yard range. Even worse are the 15-20 yard dig routes that have become a favorite for opposing offensive coordinators, an enticing play against the soft zone and weak tackling of the back seven. It has become routine to see our T2 coverage allow multiple completions of this route per game. Why? Our linebackers have proven time and time again that they have the inability to read and react q...

Mike Shanahan: Rex Grossman not entirely to blame for flea-flicker pick

Washington Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman threw an interception on a failed flea-flicker on the first play of Sunday’s game against the Giants. But on Monday – 24 hours removed from Washington’s 23-10 victory – coach Mike Shanahan said all the blame shouldn’t fall on Grossman. Grossman took the snap at his own 18-yard line and handed it off to running back Roy Helu,...

A critical(ly positive) review of Rex Grossman as Redskins quarterback.

I'm not sure if you've realized this, but Rex Grossman has a chance to be a winning quarterback on the Redskins this year.  He's currently 5-6 as a starter this year with two games to play.  When Redskins Hog Heaven went through and did our predictions for the year, both Tony and I thought the Redskins would finish 7-9.  However, neither of us believed that Grossman...

Grossman turnovers 'not acceptable' to Redskins

Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan says Rex Grossman has ''way too many turnovers, which is not acceptable.'' Grossman, meanwhile, keeps finding ways to shrug them off. He said this week that interceptions stick in the newspapers because of the attention they get, but they don't really stick in his head. Grossman has 22 giveaways this season...

The confounding case of Rex Grossman

While Rex Grossman’s numbers always have him on the fringe of the bench, he has found ways to win against the Vikings. This year, his Redskins are better with him as the starter than without him.

Redskins' Grossman undeterred by turnovers

Resiliency is familiar to Rex Grossman. That's how the Washington Redskins quarterback has survived 82 turnovers in 52 career games. Two more interceptions — upping his career tally to 58 — came in Sunday's unexpected win at the New York Giants. But the 31-year-old Grossman found a way to shake ...

Play Grossman, bench Lloyd Week 16

Is it championship week? Or do you play in one of those ridiculous, misguided leagues that has its Fake Football Bowl in Week 17? Either way, our Position vs. Fantasy Defensive Points Allowed tool can help you to a title. As always, please remember that the players listed are mostly meant to be borderline guys, who need reasons for you to play or bench them. You won't see recommendations...

DMV: The Cost Of Benching Rex Grossman For Three Games

Would the Skins be a playoff team if they didn’t bench Rex? Probably not, and I’m glad they took a look at Beck, but it may have cost them a game or so. [SB Nation D.C.] Shanahan thinks Lorenzo Alexander should be a Pro Bowler. [The Insider] This year’s Skins are the most no-name Skins. [City Desk] Caps beat Nashville 4-1 at home as the Young Guns went off. [Japers' Rink...

The Jets were DeFEETed by the Eagles Sunday

They are not talking about Rex Grossman. Jets coach Rex Ryan loves feet, but it still remains unknown if men's feet is part of the infatuation. These Philadelphia Eagles fans took a chance and showed off their two-months-to-late Halloween costume at the Jets-Eagles game Sunday. The foot for the dude on the left says “Rex Luvs Da Feet.” The costume on the right says ...

Vikings hope to get right against Redskins

This week, the Vikings move from the impressively efficient style of the New Orleans Saints' offense to the ordinarily average Washington Redskins. After Drew Brees and the Saints' passing offense lit up the Vikings for 573 total net yards, including 412 in the air, the Vikings' secondary that is looking for any glimmer of positive news should be able to find some success...

Grossman: Rolle trash talk fired up Redskins

Quarterback Rex Grossman said the Washington Redskins did take offense to Antrel Rolle's comments that the Giants would beat their division rival "99" out of 100 times.

Is Tim Tebow the Best-Worst Player or The Worst-Best Player?

There are many narratives this year in the NFL. Which is no different from any other year. There’s always one main story the networks slam down the throats of their viewers and since there is no Brett Favre in 2011 to help shoulder the load, it seems like the narratives are lasting longer and taking up more time for the talking heads. Tim Tebow, unfortunately, is this years Brett...

Forget this season, Bears have big issues to sort out in 2012

Whether it’s Rex Grossman for Kyle Orton or Craig Krenzel for Jonathan Quinn, a new starting quarterback usually elicits an automatic wave of enthusiasm and hope among Bears fans. But the likelihood that Josh McCown will replace Caleb Hanie for the game against the Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday...

Giants Headed for Disaster After 23-10 Loss

If the New York Giants miss the playoffs once again, they have only themselves and the Washington Redskins to blame.   Rex Grossman threw a touchdown pass and the Redskins put a major hurt on the Giants and their playoff hopes with a dominating 23-10 victory Sunday in a game in which New York showed little desire with much on the line.   "I'm very disappointed in how we...

Green Print: Jets' keys for Saturday

The Giants’ pass coverage has been abysmal. Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Tony Romo carved the Giants up. Rex Grossman kept converting third downs. There have been plenty of open receivers over the last month against the mostly zone coverage employed by defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.
