The Buffalo Bills' defense is still a work in progress, but that group showed plenty of positive signs in the last game. The Tennessee Titans have to be pleased with the recent improvements they've made on both sides of the ball. Defensive end Shawne Merriman is expected to make his return to the Bills on Sunday when the visiting Titans try to win back-to-back games for the first time this season. After giving up 97 points and 1,201 yards in their previous two games - the most by an NFL team since the New York Yanks gave up 1,227 in 1950 - Buffalo (3-3) allowed 332 yards and avoided a third straight defeat last Sunday with a 19-16 overtime victory at Arizona. The Bills spent the week in the desert after getting routed 45-3 at San Francisco on Oct. 7, and that decision appeared to re-energize the defensive unit, which matched season highs with five sacks - two apiece by Mario Williams and Nick Barnett - and two interceptions. Jairus Byrd had both picks, including one in o...

Stevie Johnson growing frustrated with Fitzpatrick?

The love story between Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is well documented at this point. Both Gailey and GM Buddy Nix continue to stand behind Fitzpatrick no matter the results we see on the field.Fitzpatrick’s accuracy and erratic play have made many question his seven-year $62 million dollar contract, maybe even Steve Johnson. One of Stevie...

Bills starting RG Urbik ruled out against Titans

Buffalo Bills starting right guard Kraig Urbik will miss his third straight game because of a right ankle injury. Coach Chan Gailey ruled out Urbik from playing against Tennessee this weekend after the player was unable to practice Thursday. Urbik had returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since he was hurt. Veteran defensive lineman Spencer Johnson has a chance to return...

Ryan Fitzpatrick says he needs to be more consistent

Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick admits that he needs to play at a consistently high level for his team to have any success this season.“It has just been very inconsistent all year,” Fitzpatrick said, via BuffaloBills.com. “A lot of that falls on me and my play. I did not and have not started the year the way I wanted to. I think starting out with the three-interception...

Buffalo Bills re-sign Shawne Merriman, Delano Howell

Shawne Merriman has been given what might be his final chance at an NFL revival by the Buffalo Bills, who signed the defensive end Monday. Merriman had been released by the Bills this preseason after 1 1/2 ineffective seasons in Buffalo. He was playing with the third-string unit in preseason games and still barely making a mark, a far cry from the "Lights Out" days when...

Spiller & Jackson To Continue Timeshare in Buffalo

According to the Bills' official website, running back C.J. Spiller said he and Fred Jackson will continue to split time every two series. "It is kind of hard when you are out there for one series, you get into a flow and you come out," Spiller said. "We thought it would be best if we did two series so that is what we have done these last two games"Fantasy...

Byrd Saves Chan Gailey and Buffalo Bills as they defeat Cardinals

Two things that stick out the most after this win for the Buffalo Bills is that Jarius Byrd saved Chan Gailey from possibly losing his job, and Jay Feely may be the biggest tool in the NFL. In case you did not watch the game yesterday, or Sunday Night Countdown, or missed Sports Center this morning, the Bills defeated the Arizona Cardinals yesterday 19-16 in overtime. After being...

Field Goals on beating the Titans

The Bills at 3-3 aren’t the same as the Patriots at 3-3. In fact, it is hard to believe that the Bills have arrived at the same record as the team that rolled them only two weeks ago. However, sports are more about the destination, not the journey. So far the destination for the Bills is the exact same as a number of teams who, on paper, would likely be considered vastly superior...

Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills: Week 7 NFL Pick

Tennessee Titans (2-4) at Buffalo Bills (3-3) These two teams are actually very, very similar. Tennessee ranks 29th in yards per play differential and Buffalo ranks 30th. Buffalo also ranks 30th in rate of sustaining drives differential, while Tennessee ranks 31st. I picked both teams for big plays last week because, in addition to other reasons, both teams were coming off back to...
