The Titans and the Atlanta Falcons plan to meet about halfway in August for a joint practice at a Georgia high school during training camp.
The Titans announced Thursday they had agreed with the Falcons on the joint practice Aug. 5 to be held in Dalton, Ga., at Coahulla High School. The session will be open and free to the public.
Tennessee coach Mike Munchak noted Thursday that the Titans practiced with the Falcons before. The teams met in Chattanooga for a scrimmage in 1997, the then-Oilers' first year in Tennessee. The Falcons also traveled to Nashville for a couple of days of practice in 2004, and Munchak said he talked with Atlanta coach Mike Smith about practicing together last year.
''Because of the lockout, it was too hard to plan something like this ...,'' Munchak said. ''With the schedule too ..., you can really have a nice organized practice against someone else who's a good football team and really work your first and second groups without worrying about injuries like you do in preseason games.''
Dalton is 160 miles from Nashville, and the Titans say they will bus down and back the day of the practice. Munchak said that will offer another bonding chance for the players along with exposure for the Titans near the Tennessee border.
''There's people who like both teams. I think it's a great thing when you can create that atmosphere,'' Munchak said.

ATLANTA- Will he stay or will he go? That was the question that surrounded Atlanta Falcons DE John Abraham during this season’s free agency period.
The Falcons reportedly were ready to let “the Predator” walk in a move that would removed the veteran leadership out of the defensive side of the team’s locker room.
Obviously despite offers from reportedly the Broncos and Titans...
For much of the offseason, it appeared John Abraham was a player the Falcons could not afford to re-sign.
As it turned out, Abraham was a player the team could not afford to lose. He says Atlanta was the place he never wanted to leave.
After proving he remains productive by leading the team with 9 1/2 sacks in 2011, he signed a three-year, $16.72 million contract in March.
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Falcons have a new offensive coordinator and a new defensive coordinator installing relatively new systems and two of the team's most veteran players on either side of the ball are a bit behind the learning curve because of their absences during the offseason.

The Tennessee Titans already have shuffled their offensive line this offseason by bringing in five-time All-Pro Steve Hutchinson.
More changes could be coming.
Center Eugene Amano and Leroy Harris, both coming off a pair of surgeries, are back on the field trying to reclaim their starting jobs. At the same time, the Titans are trying to strengthen a unit that uncharacteristically...
Good news for the rest of the AFC South; according to the local newspaper in Tennessee, Matt Hasselbeck is expected to QB1 when the Titans break camp this fall.
Before I get into the specifics, the reason I say it is good news for the rest of the AFC South is because I believe they have enough talent on the roster to challenge Houston for the division in 2012. But I also believe...
The U.S. Olympic Track & Field Olympic Trials begin Thursday in Eugene, Oregon. It just happens that Atlanta Falcons cheerleader Kat Majester is already in town getting for her chance to become one of the biggest names in U.S. pole vaulting history. Has an NFL cheerleader ever made an Olympic team? According to our freelance researchers, it hasn’t happened. How can’t you...
With Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker battling for the Tennessee Titans starting quarterback job, all preseason reports have indicated that the competition has been very close so far. At least until now.
David Climer of the Tennessean suspects that Hasselbeck has a nice lead over Locker at this point for the starting job.
“I suspect Hasselbeck is solidly ahead of...
The first Falcons mini-camp is under-way and we are still a bit away from the first pre-season game. It's the perfect time to convey at the Grits Blitz roundtable so pull up a chair and listen to what we have to say and feel free to chime in with your answers as well. The first point of discussion is position battles. The Falcons are a veteran team so many spots are locked down...

It's time for the third installment in this little series on how the Titans fared in the red zone in 2011. I covered the run game and the running backs in part one and covered the quarterbacks in part two. It's now time to continue my look at the passing game with an analysis of how the Titans' wide receivers fared. As I noted in the first two parts of this series, the...
