Just a quick recap tonight, but the Tennessee Titans opened the preseason with a 27-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Fourth-string running back Darius Reynaud stole the show for the Titans, scoring once as a rusher and once on a punt return, but the Seahawks broke a fourth-quarter tie thanks to some short field position and then iced the game with a touchdown in the final two minutes. The most eyes are of course on the quarterback battle. Matt Hasselbeck started and put up some pretty mediocre numbers, 5-9 for 45 yards and two interceptions, including a pick-6 in the first 10 seconds. That one was a multiple-deflection, while the other one was a formation-based deep shot for Damian Williams that doubled as an effective third-down armpunt. Locker was more efficient, going 7-13 for 76 yards in leading the Titans to a field goal in the two-minute drill at the end of the first halfThe supposedly-improved running game was difficult to find, as Chris Johnson managed only 8 yards on 5 carri...

Jake Locker Pulling Ahead in QB Competition

According to the Tennessean, Titans coach Mike Munchak said Sunday that Jake Locker is gaining on Matt Hasselbeck in the team's quarterback battle.Fantasy Spin:At the start of training camp, the Titans' job was seemingly Hasselbeck's job to lose. So far, he is losing it, tossing more camp interceptions than Locker and also giving away two passes in the first preseason...

Terrell Owens great for Seattle, irrelevant for the Seahawks

As a resident in the city of Seattle I can confidently say that Terrell Owens’ arrival to the Seattle Seahawks has created a buzz amongst fans. I have yet to go anywhere without someone asking me, “What do you think about the Seahawks getting Terrell Owens?” My answer is usually a mixture between “I don’t know, why you care, and don’t you know he’s 38?” My response...

2012 NFL Preseason Week 1: Seahawks vs. Titans

Quarterbacks Seattle: Despite being content with short passes (6.5 yards per his eleven completions), Matt Flynn showed quick release and awareness of both sides of the flat. After going 8-for-8, Flynn had a pass snagged over the middle by an unseen Colin McCarthy. Flynn’s only other true mistake was taking his eyes off a shotgun snap, resulting in a 10-yard loss after the fumble...

Seahawks G John Moffit to miss 2-3 weeks

Seattle Seahawks guard John Moffitt is expected to undergo surgery on his left elbow and miss the next two to three weeks. Moffitt's elbow has been causing problems for him recently and forced him to leave practice early on Thursday. His left arm was in a sling during Friday's walkthrough. Coach Pete Carroll said Moffitt is likely to undergo surgery to clean up some '...

A Trip To The Seattle Seahawks' Training Camp

On Tuesday, a couple of friends and I made the three hour drive up to Renton, Washington for a Seahawks training camp practice. We pulled out of my driveway before six in the morning and reached the Landing in Renton around nine. After searching out the place, where we received our wristbands certifying our registration for viewing, purchased for six dollars a person through the...

Seattle Seahawks: 3 Things Learned in Preseason Opener

1.  This quarterback competition is NOT over by a long shot  Matt Flynn got the start and the time with the first-team offense going against the first team defense of the Titans, and overall it was a pretty good debut. He didn’t get a chance to really uncork any long throws down the field, but he made almost every throw he was asked to make, going 11-of-13, with one interception...

Here’s what I’m watching for Saturday night at Century Link

Titans Seahawks Storylines Saturday’s Seahawks game against the Titans has as many story lines as I can remember a pre-season game in Seattle having. I’m always glued to position battles between Seahawks players but on Saturday I’ll be just as tuned in to the battle between former Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and former University of Washington quarterback Jake Locker...
