Veteran linebacker David Thornton didnt play last season as he recovered from hip/shoulder injuries, and his contract is up. Thornton was not among the 40 or so players who took part in the unofficial minicamp. At the age of 32, and after nine NFL seasons, it would not be a surprise if Thornton retired. But fellow linebacker Gerald McRath isnt expecting it. He said Thornton was spending time with his family this week. I think D.T. has four more years-plus left if he wants to, McRath said. He is in a place where he could do what he wants to do. I feel like he can suit up any day.
