The Titans did their part, now they need help to reach the playoffs. "It's a weird feeling, for sure," said quarterback Matt Hasselbeck after leading Tennessee to a 23-22 win at the Texans Sunday. "We could be right back here next week. But, then again, there's a real possibility that it's over." That sums it up for the Titans, a team which needs a confluence of events to occur before Sunday ends to make the post-season. The Titans will make the playoffs if the Raiders and Broncos win and the Bengals lose. The Bengals are playing the Ravens in Cincinnati, Denver is hosting the Chiefs and the Raiders are home for the Chargers. Titans coach Mike Munchak and his team will await the outcomes anxiously to find out if, indeed, the season will resume. The Titans won their last two games of the regular season to finish 9-7. "We put ourselves in the situation we're in," Munchak said. "If we don't get into the playoffs it's our own fault. We had chances the last four or five weeks to better our situation, to be in better control of our own destiny. But once we lost a couple of games we shouldn't have, that took that out of the picture for us." Even in the win against the Texans the Titans had to hold their collective breath until; the closing seconds to avoid disaster. Leading 22-17 and in possession of the ball with less than two minutes to play, Tennessee's Ahmard Hall fumbled at the Titans' 36 yard line to give the Texans a chance to tie the game. Houston quarterback Jake Delhomme hit receiver Bryant Johnson for a touchdown with 14 seconds remaining to pull the Texans within a point. But Texans coach Gary Kubiak opted to go for the two-point conversion as opposed to kicking for a tie. The snap went over Delhomme's head, clinching the win for Tennessee. "We knew that they wouldn't be playing all their players," said Munchak. "We knew their philosophy was a bit different than ours. The game was obviously much more important to us than it was to them as far as what was on the table for us. The turnover at the end almost cost us the ballgame but we know what a good football team they are and we know that if we come back here in a week it will be a totally different game." Kubiak shuffled players throughout the game including quarterback T.J. Yates. Yates took an early hit and suffered a shoulder injury. Kubiak indicated that Yates could have possibly returned but decided to go with Delhomme for the majority of the game. Delhomme is Houston's fourth quarterback this season. Meanwhile, the Titans will await several outcomes this afternoon as they hope all the right results emerge and Munchak enters the playoffs in his first season as the head coach of the franchise. "I don't think (the season) has a finality feel to it right now," Hasselbeck said. Hasselbeck was 22 of 35 for 297 yards and two touchdowns. The Texans limited Chris Johnson to 61 yards on 15 carries. Nate Washington and Donnie Avery caught touchdown passes and Rob Bironas kicked three field goals in the win.
