The agent for Tony Brown says the Tennessee Titans plan to release the defensive tackle.
Martin Magid said Brown failed a physical and the team notified him Thursday that they planned to release him. The team did not immediately comment on Brown's status.
Brown has spent the past five seasons with the Titans and had signed a three-year contract extension worth $17 million before last season began. In 11 games last fall, Brown had 35 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
He was hampered by a right knee injury and had arthroscopic knee surgery in December. He was expected to be fully recovered by now.
He has 154 tackles, 19 sacks, five fumble recoveries and four forced fumbles in 219 games over six seasons.
