Among all the firings of coaches and general managers around the league last week, there were three I thought were noteworthy regarding their success against the Titans. Those three are former Chargers G.M. A.J. Smith and coach Norv Turner and former Bears coach Lovie Smith.
As we painfully recall, the Chargers and Bears each humiliated the Titans in 2012, by scores of 38-10 and 51-20 but the three men who are the focus of this article have enjoyed success against the Titans far beyond this past season. We'll look at their careers versus the Titans, after the jump.
A.J. Smith, Chargers GM from 2004-2012:
2012 Chargers 38, Titans10
2010 Chargers 33, Titans 25
2009 Chargers 42, Titans 17
2007 Chargers 23, Titans 17
2007 playoffs Chargers 17, Titans 6
2006 Chargers 40, Titans 7
2004 Chargers 38, Titans 17
overall record vs Titans: 7-0
average score: 33-14

Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy interviewed with the Cardinals late last week, and while he was not made available to the Phoenix media afterwards, he did have this to say to the Denver Post and other Denver media outlets on Wednesday:

According to Peter Schrager of FOXSports.com, the Cleveland Browns will likely hire Norv Turner as their new offensive coordinator now that Rob Chudzinski has been brought in as their new head coach.
If the Browns are able to land Turner, their offense will be in very good hands. He’s arguably the best offensive mind’s in the game.

The Jacksonville Jaguars fired coach Mike Mularkey Thursday after just one season, the worst in franchise history.
New general manager David Caldwell made the announcement, giving him a clean slate heading into 2013. Caldwell said he made the move just 48 hours after he was hired because he wants to immediately explore every avenue possible to turn the Jaguars around.
After news broke that Rob Chudzinski was the Browns new head coach, reports also surfaced that Norv Turner, fresh off his firing as head coach in San Diego, would be the Browns new offensive coordinator.
The San Diego Chargers have hired Tom Telesco from the Indianapolis Colts to replace fired general manager A.J. Smith.
Telesco is to be introduced at an afternoon news conference.
Telesco has been vice president of football operations for the Colts.

Multiple news sources are reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles have met with Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and that the two sides will meet again early next week. When asked about joining the NFL coaching ranks prior to the National Championship game, Kelly told reporters that leaving “is not an option.” Something changed.
The Eagles have now interviewed six coaching candidates...
Chudzinski worked with Cam Newton the past two seasons with the Panthers. It is been rumored that former Chargers coach Norv Turner will join Chudzinski as the offensive coordinator.
3 years ago everyone was calling for Norv Turner to be fired because of the Chargers’ tendency to have strong regular seasons and then choke in the playoffs every year. I bet the Chargers would trade the last three years for that. Over the last 3 years, the Chargers have begun their underachieving earlier, missing the playoffs in all 3 seasons.
On one hand, things are looking up...
