NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tennessee Titans have signed offensive linemen Michael Jasper and Jonathan Palmer to boost their roster numbers up to 90 after a couple of injuries. Center Eugene Amano tore his right triceps early in training camp, left guard Steve Hutchinson has been getting some time off for rest and tackle Mike Otto dislocated his ring finger Tuesday night. Coach Mike Munchak said Wednesday they wanted some depth. The 6-foot-4, 375-pound Jasper was on Buffalo's practice last season and on the active roster for the final week. A seventh-round draft pick out of Bethel, Jasper is a native of Mount Juliet, Tenn. Palmer, 6-5 and 338 pounds, has spent time on practice squads in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Carolina and Arizona since finishing his college career at Auburn.

Locker named starter against Bucaneers

Jake Locker said on Tuesday that head coach Mike Munchaks decision to start him on Friday at Tampa Bay in the Tennessee Titans second preseason game wasnt a big deal. Somehow, it feels differently. The palpable excitement on Lockers face in video posted on the teams Web site contrasted with 2011 starter Matt Hasselbecks initial downcast manner, though Hasselbeck said all of the...

Titans sticking with Derrick Morgan as starting DE

The Tennessee Titans have maintained that Derrick Morgan is still the starter at left defensive end, and that is the word he is going with. For more than a week, Morgan, the Titans' first-round pick in 2010, has been operating mostly with the second-team line, including in Saturday night's preseason opener at Seattle. Former practice squad player Pannel Egboh has been getting...

Titans QB job is Jake Locker’s to lose

The Tennessee Titans starting quarterback competition is becoming a little more clear, as Jake Locker has emerged as the favorite with three weeks left in the preseason. According  to a report on PFT.com, head coach Mike Munchak told reporters that Locker is the leader in the competition. “Mike Munchak said today that if Locker continues to do through the rest of the preseason...

Chris Johnson Must Prove Himself to Titans' Fans

Take one look at the roster of the Tennessee Titans and a few things jump out at you. The first eye opener is the lack of big name players across the board.  Of course there are names that are recognizable like Matt Hasselbeck, Chris Johnson, and Kenny Britt.  Looking at the rest of the roster, however, seems to be a who's who of journeymen and untested young players. Despite...

Old and young in 2011, what might the Titans be in 2012?

A while ago, comrade in the statistical revolution Chase Stuart at his site Football Perspective put together a list of how old each team was on offense and defense. Now, obviously you can't just take roster size and apply it, but need to try to assess how valuable, relatively, different players are. For that, Chase used P-F-R's AV metric. I have my quibbles with that, but...

Tennessee Titans Potential Breakout Player of 2012: Derrick Morgan

The great thing about the NFL is that there are so many positions that every year, there is almost always at least one player who has a breakout year on every team, no matter how good or bad the team is. This is one part in a 32 part segment detailing one potential breakout player for the 2012 NFL season on each NFL team. For the Tennessee Titans, that player is defensive end Derrick...

Tennessee Titans first preseason game review: Defense

I covered the offense a couple days ago, and now it's time for the other side of the ball. I went through and re-watched in great but not obsessive detail all of the Titans' defensive plays against the Seahawks. I kept track of player participation (as best I could off the Seahawks broadcast aired on NFL Network), plus took my usual smattering of notes.Details, details, details...

Braylon Edwards has finally found a true home in Seattle

Braylon Edwards has always been a talented receiver and as such he’s proven himself to be an enigma so far in the NFL. He’s made huge plays and saw his career jump off to a great start yet after leaving Cleveland he sputtered out in both New York with the Jets and in San Francisco. Now, it looks like he’s ready to go for his and he appears to be on the verge of his long-awaited...

Locker ready to make 1st NFL start at Tampa Bay

Jake Locker finally makes his first NFL start Friday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he's definitely looking forward to something he expects to be a lot of fun. The Tennessee Titans just hope he plays well enough to make take the decision on their starting quarterback out of their hands. ''We're running out of time,'' coach Mike Munchak said...
