With the Titans out of the playoffs, the end of the regular season has turned into an audition of sorts for some of the younger players. Rookie cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson, for instance, is likely to see plenty of action for the second straight week when the Titans (6-9) play the Texans (2-13) today at LP Field. A third-round pick, Wreh-Wilson’s playing time has increased since nickel corner Coty Sensabaugh (foot) went on injured reserve. But looking ahead to next season, Wreh-Wilson could be in line for increased responsibilities if veteran Alterraun Verner proves too expensive for the Titans to re-sign. n that case, Wreh-Wilson might become the top slot corner — with Sensabaugh moving outside — or even get a shot at moving outside to fill Verner’s role. “It’s almost like I have to show what I can do going into the offseason and build that positive momentum for myself,” Wreh-Wilson said. “I hope (Verner’s) back. I’ve learned a lot from him as well as other older guys. I just have to make sure I’m prepared for whatever happens.” On the other side of the ball, third-year right tackle Byron Stingily is scheduled for his second consecutive start — and fourth of his career — in place of the injured David Stewart.
