NASHVILLE -- It came down to the field-goal kickers Thursday night. The Pittsburgh Steelers' Shaun Suisham missed his shot at a game-winner, and the Tennessee Titans' Rob Bironas didn't. Bironas drilled a 40-yarder as time expired, lifting the desperate Titans to a 26-23 upset win over the banged-up Steelers at LP Field. Tennessee (2-4) took over at its 45-yard line with 48 seconds left after Suisham's 54-yard attempt came up several yards short. Matt Hasselbeck put the Titans in field-goal range when he hit tight end Jared Cook for a 25-yard gain to the Pittsburgh 25. After a 3-yard run by Chris Johnson, who rushed 19 times for 91 yards, the Titans ran the clock down to four seconds and called timeout. After the Steelers asked for time in a futile attempt to freeze the kicker, but Bironas nailed his kick to snap Tennessee's two-game losing streak. Moments after Bironas' boot curled through the uprights, Titans coach Mike Munchak fired both fists in...

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a surprise move today as steelers.com reports that they have decided to release second-year tight end Weslye Saunders.
Saunders returned to the team on Monday after serving his four gamer suspension for testing positive for a banned substance. It was believed by many that veteran Leonard Pope would be the odd man out as his playing time has decreased...
“Aw man.”“Aw man.”We’ve seen funny press conferences and interviews before (the best being Ellis Lankster), but we’ve never seen one like this. In a short 90-second interview after last night’s Titans-Steelers game, Kenny Britt successfully started off every reply with the phrase. We can’t tell if this was the result of a locker room bet/dare or if Britt was just so...
The Pittsburgh Steelers decided not to activate second year tight end Weslye Saunders to the 53 man roster this week, so that means the South Carolina product will have to wait another week until he makes his 2012 season debut.
Saunders was forced to miss the first four games after he was suspended this past February for testing positive for a banned substance.
The Steelers requested...
Last night, Kendall Wright caught six passes for 71 yards in the Titans’ Week 6 win. Wright led the Titans in both categories, and he is becoming one of the league’s most productive rookie receiver’s. Wright does his best work when the quarterback can get him the ball in space. He had several huge receptions last night and was a huge factor in the win. He has out performed...
(Photo: George Walker IV, The Tennessean) The Pittsburgh Steelers — or perhaps more accurately, the team’s fans — probably figured heading into Thursday night’s match-up with the Tennessee Titans that the somewhat underperforming squad (although the team has been devastated by injuries) would begin to turn around the season courtesy of what they reasonably envisioned [...]
As much as Xs and Os are a part of coaching, player management and motiviation is an essential element as well. Tonight, Titans coach Mike Munchak missed a golden opportunity to help his starting running back break out of a slump.
Chris Johnson has done very little to help himself, his image, or his team since his holdout to begin the 2011 season and he certainly hasn’t contributed...
Ben Roethlisberger has passed Terry Bradshaw as the Pittsburgh Steelers' career passing leader, and he needed fewer games to reach that mark.
Roethlisberger came into Thursday night's game with Tennessee needing 286 yards to tie Bradshaw's 27,989 yards passing. Bradshaw did that in 168 games, and Thursday night was Roethlisberger's 119th career game.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall sustained an Achilles tendon injury during Thursday night's loss against the Tennessee Titans, but the injury is minor, NFL.com reported. Mendenhall left the game and was replaced by Baron Batch, who ran for 22 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown. Pittsburgh was down to its third-string running back because backup Isaac Redman...
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger recorded his second 300-yard game of the season Thursday against the Titans, throwing for 363 yards on 24-of-40 passing with a touchdown and a pick.Fantasy Spin:Roethlisberger has only thrown two TD passes in his last two games after connecting for eight scores in his first three. Still, Pittsburgh is clearly a pass-first team -- Roethlisberger...
