Seahawks win first preseason game of the year The Seattle Seahawks take the first preseason game of the season 27-17 over the Tennessee Titans.  The fans at CenturyLink Field sounded like they were in mid-season form as the energy and excitement really came through the TV screen.
I really loved seeing the fans give former Seahawk Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck a nice cheer as he made his return to the PNW.
Offensive Game Ball Quarterback Matt Flynn really got the ball out of his hand quick, and he played very well going 11 for 13 and 71 yards.  He did throw 1 pick, and no touchdowns, but he looked comfortable at the helm, albeit, a little conservative. It looked like Leon Washington and Robert Turbin could be very viable backups to Running Back Marshawn Lynch this year. Wide Receiver Braylon Edwards tried to make people forget about the T.O. signing as he looked like a solid threat on the outside.  He caught 2 balls for 51 yards, and a 32 yard touchdown reception. Edwards’ 32 yard touchdown pass was thrown by Quarterback Russell Wilson who gets this week’s offensive game ball. He came on after a good performance by Flynn, and played even better as he looked every bit the part of an NFL Quarterback.  Wilson went 12 of 16, for 124 yards and 1 touchdown and 1 interception (in the end zone).  He also rushed for 59 yards on 3 attempts and scored on a 32 yard run. Robert Turbin could be very viable backup to Running Back Marshawn Lynch This Quarterback competition may only have two players in the mix now, but it seems far from settled. Congrats Russell on this week’s offensive game ball. Defensive Game Ball The starting Defense looked fast, and no unit impressed more than the secondary. Cornerback Richard Sherman intercepted a deep Hasselbeck ball and made a very athletic play on the ball. The Defensive game ball goes to Brandon Browner, who picked off Hasselbeck on the first play of the game and returned the ball for a touchdown.  If the secondary plays at this level all season, the Seahawks should be in the upper tier of Defenses in the league. Middle Linebacker Bobby Wagner who is penciled in as the starter at this point also chipped in with 4 tackles with 1 for a loss. Congrats to Browner for this week’s defensive game ball. Special Teams Game Ball Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka went 2 for 2, including a 41 yard field goal and he gets the Week 1 NFLX special teams game ball for the ‘Hawks. Terrell Owens and Pete Carroll pranks Seahawks players with fake argument (Video)

We all know that Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is fan of pranks and his latest one came with the help of newly-acquired wide receiver, Terrell Owens. During the Seahawks first meeting with Owens in attendance, Pete decided to call him up to the middle of the room to tell a story. After a few minutes, Owens decided to go a rant about not being able to wear #81 ...

Seattle Seahawks: Super Bowl Sleeper

Wow, check out that awesome alliteration in that title! Woo hoo, I'm pretty pumped about that. All right, now let's talk about some football. Eh, I know, not as exciting as talking about the alliteration in the title, but we have to get through it. As the regular season gets closer and closer, everybody is making their Super Bowl picks and it's pretty much the same old...

NFL Needs Terrell Owens, Matt Flynn to Create Waves

In an unusual way, the Seattle Seahawks are a high profile team this year being counted on to make a solid impression. They have an all-time college coach in Pete Caroll trying to lead them with one of the few star running backs left in the league, Marshawn Lynch. The Seattle Seahawks made a run a couple of seasons back in the playoffs of 2011, but fizzled out in the 2011-2012 season...

Seattle Seahawks 2013 Franchise Tag Candidates

DT Alan Branch Largely a bust in the early part of his career in Arizona, as a 2007 2nd round pick, the Seahawks got the most out of Branch last season, as he ranked as ProFootballFocus’ 5th rated defensive tackle as primarily a run stuffer. However, while the defensive tackle franchise tag is relatively inexpensive (7.9 million in 2012), it’s unlikely the Seahawks would give...

Seahawks TE Zach Miller sustains concussion

Seahawks tight end Zach Miller has sustained a concussion in Seattle's preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans after catching a 14-yard pass from Matt Flynn. Miller was injured early in the second quarter on Saturday night after getting hit by Terrence Wheatley and Kamerion Wimbley. Miller was woozy on the field and walked off with a trainer at his side. Seattle coach...

Preseason Game 1 Preview: Seahawks at Titans

Tonight, the spotlight will be on the quarterbacks.  Matt Flynn, who will play the entire first half, will get his first chance to sew up the starting quarterback position, and Russell Wilson will show us what he can do when he takes over thereafter.  Matt Hasselbeck will once again be playing in Seattle, albeit in a Titans uniform, and he’s currently waging a battle of his own...

2012 NFL Preseason Week 1: Seahawks vs. Titans

Quarterbacks Seattle: Despite being content with short passes (6.5 yards per his eleven completions), Matt Flynn showed quick release and awareness of both sides of the flat. After going 8-for-8, Flynn had a pass snagged over the middle by an unseen Colin McCarthy. Flynn’s only other true mistake was taking his eyes off a shotgun snap, resulting in a 10-yard loss after the fumble...

Preseason Game 1: Halftime

Well, we couldn't have asked for a much better first play to open the year, could we?CB Brandon Browner grabbed a bobbled pass to Titans TE Jared Cook and returned it for a touchdown, making this arguably the flashiest start to a Seahawks season that I can remember. The throw, ironically, was from none other than former Seahawk QB Matt Hasselbeck. After a bit of a defensive battle...
