'TNF' offers another yawner with dreadful Saints-Cardinals Week 7 matchup

The Broncos' struggles have taken center stage recently, but two other 2-4 teams may challenge Denver for most disappointing. And guess what? They are playing this week on Amazon's "Thursday Night Football," making for dreadfully dull programming the past two weeks.

Welcome, NFL fans, to Cardinals vs. Saints.

In the offseason, the Cardinals made a pricey long-term commitment to QB Kyler Murray and head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Their 2022 deals tie both to the franchise through 2027. At least Arizona has a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft if it hits rock bottom.

The same can't be said for the Saints. Going all-in every season finally appears to have come back to haunt general manager Mickey Loomis. New Orleans traded its first-round picks for 2022 and 2023 to the Eagles for two 2022 first-round picks.

The good news: If New Orleans' season becomes a disaster, it can easily move on from QB Jameis Winston and head coach Dennis Allen.

The Cardinals and Saints have hope because the NFC is the weakest it has been in years. Despite 2-4 records, both teams are a game out of first in their divisions.

Per the Philly Voice, the Saints (26.8) and Cardinals (26.8) have rosters that rank among the oldest in football. Teams have veteran-laden rosters when they expect to compete for a championship.

Neither team, however, resembles anything close to a playoff team. However, both of their paths to the postseason are going to be easier than the Broncos'. Whichever team wins on Thursday will keep pace within its division despite a losing record and thus far uninspired play.
