T.O.’s Contributions To The Team Not Always Obvious

The media has been highlighting several aspects of the recent Cowboys-Packers game, specifically that Terrell Owens had his worst receiving stats since 2003.  But what hasn't been highlighted as much is the other aspects of the game that he contributed to siginicantly on Sunday night. On the 60-yard TD run by Felix Jones, it was T.O. leading the way down the sideline and making the block that got him into the endzone.  It was the fact that he was being double-teamed and the main focus of the Packers' secondary that let Miles Austin have the game that he did.  He also sprinted over half the field to make the tackle after Tony Romo's interception in the second quarter.  This was after he had been blocked to the ground just afterwards.  Not only do these things demonstrate the speed he still can generate, but also the selfless and team spirited attitude he has developed over the past couple of seasons.  The only thing I can see that is bothering him is the constant way the present media tries to create perceptions about him and make problems where there simply aren't any.  Coach Wade Phillips has been noticing though, as he stated after Sunday's game about Owens, "You just don't see them all do that. I thought it was special. There's not any bigger team play than that." So that pretty much says it all in terms of how the coach and the team think of Mr. Terrell Owens and his value to this team.
