FOXBORO, Mass. -- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady says he doesn't entertain the thought of achieving a significant passing milestone during Sunday's regular-season finale against the Bills. Brady has 4,897 passing yards through 15 games, which is already the fourth most in one season in NFL history. With 103 yards (Brady has hit that mark in 153 of his 159 regular-season starts), he'll join Drew Brees (2008, 2011) and Dan Marino (1984) as the only players to reach 5,000 yards in one season, though Aaron Rodgers and Eli Manning have outside shots to also reach the milestone. Of course, Brees (5,087...

Drew Brees Thanks Equipment Managers For Rubbing Down Balls

Bloggers this morning are choking on the Drew Brees post-game speech he gave after breaking Dan Marino’s single-season yardage record in a win over the Falcons. Look, the speech was great and all but there were two takeaways from this one. First, Saints owner Tom Benson is still a complete asshole. Second, Brees never forgets the little behind-the-scenes guys like the equipment...

The 20 greatest sports moments of 2011

Man, time sure does fly. It seems like just yesterday I was praising Drew Brees. Actually, it was just yesterday, but I was referring to when I named Brees and the New Orleans Saints winning Super Bowl XLIV the top Sports Moment of 2010. And you know what? That was a boring, predictable pick and it left nothing to the imagination of you, our beloved readers. You deserve more...

Brees sets single-season passing record (AP)

Drew Brees has broken the NFL record for yards passing in a season, surpassing a mark that had stood since Dan Marino set it in 1984. Brees topped Marino's record of 5,084 yards with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Darren Sproles on Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons. Brees entered the game with 4,780 yards, needing 305 to set the record.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick really, really, really doesn’t want to talk about the passing explosion

This past Monday night, Saints QB Drew Brees broke Dolphins QB Dan Marino’s all-time passing record. And he may not be alone. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Patriots QB Tom Brady may also break it before the season is done. As it stands now, Brady is 190 yards behind Brees. But why now? After all these years, why is are all these passers getting after the mark of 5,084 yards. I...

Saints Nation: Offensive Player Grades vs. Falcons

While the night belonged to Drew Brees for breaking Dan Marino's record in the 45-16 win over the Falcons, the may group I want to commend after this masterful performance is the offensive line and the running backs. The Falcons entered this game #4 in the NFL against the run and the Saints positively manhandled them. The Falcons are fortunate the Saints had a record to get...

All you want to know after a good week of NFL action is who the bestest team in the NFL right now, and which one is the absolute barrel-scraping worst. That’s why we have TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE NFL, where we go to great lengths to tell you who’s the top dog in...
