Tom Brady shares thoughts on Jimmy Garoppolo’s knee injury
Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is expected to miss the remainder of the season with what is feared to be a torn ACL, and one of his former teammates knows that feeling all too well.

During his weekly appearance on WEEI’s “Kirk & Callahan Show” Monday, Tom Brady was asked for his thoughts on Garoppolo’s knee injury. He said he feels “terrible” for his former backup.

Brady, of course, tore his ACL in the very first game of the 2008 season when he was hit in the knee by a Kansas City Chiefs defender. He missed the next 15 games, and that is the only extended absence he has had due to injury throughout his entire career.

There was plenty of talk about tension between Brady and Garoppolo when the two were teammates together in Foxboro, but a lot of that has been overstated. Brady and Garoppolo worked together on a daily basis for several years, and the elder QB knows exactly how disappointing it is to work all offseason only to have your year end on one play.
