Tom Brady to make Fox NFL broadcast debut calling Cowboys’ Week 1 game

“Obviously, having the Cowboys on is a huge draw,” Brady said during the event. “As America’s Team, that’s gonna get a little hard for me to say that all the time, understanding that they were the competition for a long time. But in this new role, I know how important the Cowboys are to this network.”

Brady continued: “They got great storylines. Dak Prescott, let’s see if he can finally come through, Micah Parsons, what a great player he is, and Coach [Mike] McCarthy. I love covering them, I’ve been obviously going against them for a long time and now I get to tell everyone how great they are.”

Tom Brady signs monster contract to work for Fox

In 2022, Brady agreed to a 10-year, $375 million contract to be an NFL analyst for Fox. He retired from the NFL in 2023, and it was expected he would start his broadcasting career that fall. But he announced that he will join the Fox team for the 2024 season.

“Decompression’s important,” he said while appearing on The Herd with Colin Cowherd in February of last year. “You’re on this crazy treadmill/hamster wheel loving it at the same time. It’s a daily fight…For me, I want to be great at what I do. “Talking last week to the people at Fox Sports and the leadership there, [they’re going to allow me] to start my Fox opportunity in the fall of 2024.”

Brady will be new to the broadcasting game, but if he prepares like he did when he was on the football field, the seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback will have success quickly. Earlier this year, former Cowboys QB and current CBS Sports NFL broadcaster Tony Romo spoke to The Athletic about helping Brady prepare for his new role.

“Just two buddies talking football,” Romo said. “I’m excited for him. Tom will exhaust every resource to be as good at this as anybody. I think me and him have similar traits in that we’re going to try and work as hard as humanly possible to be as good as we can be at anything that we care about. He’s doing that. I think it was a genius decision by him to wait a year coming out and prepare himself. He’s going to do a great job. I think he’s going to be outstanding.”
