New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin expects wide receiver Hakeem Nicks to make next week’s minicamp, mainly for the fact that its mandatory, but still he expects him to be there even though he hasn’t made it to the voluntary OTA’s.
“We have a mandatory camp…I would expect that he would be here,” Coughlin said. By all accounts Coughlin has yet to talk to Nicks, and the reason behind him not showing up still isn’t known. Nicks happens to be entering the final year of his contract.
Adam Schefter of ESPN tweeted that Nick’s agent, Peter Schaffer, said “It’s a great day to be alive” when asked if Nicks’ absence was contract related. I’m unsure what to make of that but it does seem like he is just trying to dodge the question.
While Nicks absence from OTA’s leave a few people scratching their heads, another wide receivers absence does not. Victor Cruz hasn’t reported to any of the teams OTA’s, but this isn’t a shock to anyone. Cruz has yet to work out a deal with the Giants a
