Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez was asked if playing with a great quarterback like Matt Ryan may force him to play a little longer before retiring. “Well, this is probably my last year. The way I am looking for it I am preparing for this to be my last year. I am not going to go all the way,” said Gonzalez, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I keep telling everybody the number I’m giving on it is 95 percent sure. There is no doubt I could keep playing for a couple more years at a pretty high level but it’s just almost that time for me. I see the window closing and hopefully it makes the choice easy if we go out and win a Super Bowl this year and I can ride off into the sunset.” It sounds like Gonzalez has almost certainly made up his mind that he’s going to retire after this season.  I wonder if he would change his mind if the Falcons get really close to winning the Super Bowl this season, but fall short.   var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

Tony Gonzalez not happy with the national media

Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez isn’t happy that the national media continues to disrespect his team even though they’re currently undefeated with a 7-0 record. “Is the national media making a big deal about us like they would if it was Philly, Green Bay or New England? No, they’re not,” Gonzalez told USA TODAY Sports Thursday. “We played Philly and beat them...

The Falcons are undefeated and have a national stage to show how good they are. Week 9 preview.

The Falcons are perfect so far this season.  They're playing well in all aspects of the game, offense, defense and special teams.  On offense they're running the ball well and Turner is playing better than expected.  Can they continue in this direction?   The Falcons have a great stage to show just how good they are this week.  Will Romo and company show up big and...

Dallas Cowboys look to save season against Atlanta Falcons

At 3-4, the Dallas Cowboys find themselves tied for 2nd place in the NFC East. Yet, at this point in the season, nobody is looking at that as a success. The Cowboys are a full 2.5 games behind the New York Giants and 1.5 games behind the Green Bay Packers in the Wildcard standings. Can the Cowboys still make the playoffs? Yes. Do they need to beat the Falcons come this Sunday night...

Falcons CBS Robinson, Samuel find common ground

(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By GEORGE HENRY Associated Press Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson never questioned Atlanta's offseason trade for Asante Samuel. Atlanta Falcons: Week 9 NFL Power Rankings (#1)

Last week: 3 (+2) Record: 7-0 I’m moving the Falcons into the #1 spot for the first time all season, but I’m still not sold. 4 of their 7 wins have come by a touchdown or less. They’ve been very reliant on winning the turnover margin, which is inconsistent on a week to week basis. They rank just 19th in yards per play differential and 4th in rate of sustaining drives differential...

Falcons rule out Weatherspoon vs. Cowboys

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Falcons will face Dallas on Sunday without leading tackler Sean Weatherspoon, as head coach Mike Smith ruled him out on Thursday with an ankle injury. He was removed from...

Rob Ryan Emulates Rex Ryan While Guaranteeing Win Over Undefeated Falcons on Sunday Night

We all know that Jerry Jones is in charge of the Dallas Cowboys, but sometimes it's difficult to tell who's second-in-command. Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan was acting like Dallas' head coach on Friday when he guaranteed a victory over the undefeated Atlanta Falcons. Typically it's up to head coaches -- like Ryan's twin brother Rex Ryan -- to...
