Today All-Pro Atlanta Falcons tight end, Tony Gonzalez said that he will return for the 2013 season. Last season Tony said it was going to be his last year in the NFL, but something made him come back. Once he passes a physical he will be set to be back on the team. Gonzalez spoke with Fox Sports saying, “After discussing it with my family and really, truly struggling with this decision, I informed the Falcons I would like to return for one more shot. Considering how this season ended, I wanted to give it another run with Matt [Ryan], Smitty [coach Mike Smith] and the guys we have in there. It was the first time I had won a playoff game, and hopefully coming back once more we can take it one step further.” Tony then also tweeted, “I’m happy to say that after speaking with my family, I’m coming back. The lure of being on such a great team and organization, along with unbelievable fan support was too good to pass up. We have a great shot to get to the Super Bowl, RISE UP ATLANTA!” Tony’s agent Tom Condon will be working with Atlanta’s front office on a deal to bring him back on the team. Gonzalez holds many records for the tight end position and has a total of 103 touchdowns. In his career he has over 14,000 receiving yards and 1,242 receptions. You have to think being so close in getting to the Super Bowl last year made him come back to the Falcons. Not only Falcons fans are excited, I am guessing Falcons QB, Matt Ryan is elated to have heard the good news about his future Hall of Fame tight end playing one more season.
