Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is hoping for some calls against the Denver Broncos secondary on Sunday. “They grab, they hold, they’ve almost put a lot of pressure on the refs – whether or not they’re going to call the game close or not,” Romo said on a conference call with reporters

  • Romo is not going to get much time to throw anyway. The cowboys will be just like the Eagles, watching the Broncos march right down the field.
  • Peyton is a great QB....reminds me of J. Unitas. Awesome QB and he is on a roll...right now.

BUT...and this is HUGE...Peyton is a DOME QB. Remember what happened last year when the Broncos played in frigid weather?

Peyton is a DOME QB and has an 8-9 record in the playoffs so don't count your Superbowl rings until they hatch
  • Uninformed comment-- but that is expected on these forums. Peyton won his only SB to date on a outside field with pouring rain against the Bears. Inside a dome his team lost to the Saints. Right there your comment falls flat. Elway also had a poor record in SB's until the Broncos won two consecutive at the end of his career. As important as the QB is, the entire fortunes of a team cannot rest just on his back--any QB. The Broncos loss in the playoffs to the Ravens was largely on the shoulders of the poor play of the defensive backs--not Manning.

    Update: October 04, 2013
My mistake on the Saints SB win- for some reason was thinking they played in New Orleans that year. Anyway, the point is overstated as how important playing inside is to a dome team. Stats are interesting but they don't always tell the whole story.
  • My mistake on the Saints-Colts SB, which was not in a dome.
  • Darl'in, Peyton's on a roll. Regardless of the past, when this man puts his mind to something, he cannot be stopped.

CQBR: Peyton Manning galloping ahead of herd

One of the most valuable traits any NFL quarterback can bring to his team is consistency. As we have shown in the past, a quarterback doesn’t have to be great in order to keep his team in the game. He just has to be proficient and not make any egregious mistakes. It’s almost better that […]The post CQBR: Peyton Manning galloping ahead of herd by Rourke Douglas Decker appeared...

Will Peyton Manning Continue His Domination? NFL Week 5 Picks

After an 8-7 week my season record stands at 33-30, not quite where I want to be. Buffalo @ Cleveland - The Browns are riding high after two straight wins against better teams than Buffalo. Browns make it 3 straight. New Orleans @ Chicago - The Saints go marching into soldier field and come away with the victory. New England @ Cincinnati - Brady's luck runs...

Cowboys Are Sick of Hearing About Peyton Manning

Cowboys are doing a lot of chirping about the Broncos and Peyton Manning. If this was the playoffs I would say the Cowboys would have a good shot, but since it is the regular season, I don’t think these quotes are going to help. “I’m sick of hearing about Peyton Manning this and that and that,” said linebacker Ernie Sims, who expects to replace struggling starter Bruce Carter...

Giants counting on brotherly love to close gap in NFC East

If the New York Giants have any chance of salvaging this season, it sounds like the team believes it will have to pin their slim hopes on the broad shoulders of a Manning or two. If there was ever a good time for Giants quarterback Eli Manning to cash in on a family favor — it couldn't have come at a better time than this weekend. As the Oh-and-four Giants regroup after...

Bailey sullen, smiling as Broncos roll without him

Champ Bailey is torn between gratitude and regret as he watches the Denver Broncos steamrolling opponents without him. The perennial Pro Bowl cornerback missed all of September after injuring his left foot in the second week of the preseason. As the first snow of the season blasted the Denver area on Friday, Bailey still wasn't able to do everything at practice and was listed...

Peyton Manning, Jimmy Graham win players of month

The NFL has announced its players of the month and one honoree comes as no surprise. Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is the AFC's player of September after torching opponents with 16 touchdowns. Manning hasn't thrown a pick in four games and he hasn't appeared mortal either. We examined the records he's broken and asked on the "Around The League Podcast...

Welker quickly adjusts from Brady to Manning

(Eds: Adds details, quotes. With AP Photos.) By ARNIE STAPLETON AP Pro Football Writer Spurning Tom Brady for Peyton Manning had nothing to do with the cash, the catches or the cachet. Wes Welker just wanted to play in Denver's star-studded offense and continue his quest for a Super Bowl ring in the Rockies. So, he traded Picasso for Michelangelo. Or maybe it was the other...

How are elite teams defined?

Usually in the NFL we know who the elite teams are, but sometimes we have a hard time defining exactly what that means. Do elite teams have shutdown defenses, high-octane offense and great kickers on special teams? Well, as we’ve seen this year, there’s no one qualification. The Denver Broncos, for example, are the hottest team in football. Peyton Manning is putting up touchdowns...

Bet the Mortgage: Week 5, 2013 NFL Best Bets

After amassing a commanding lead, Andy went big in Week 4–and his losses put him back within reach for my bets in Week 5. Andy lost $800 on the Bears, Miami and St. Louis/San Francisco, only picking up one win in the terrible Cardinals/Bucs game. Meanshile, I plodded along at 2-2 for the week–bot lost my two bigger bets ($200 on the Bears straight up and $300 on the Bungles)...
