Offensive line coach Tony Sparano is known to be the coach who brought the wildcat into the NFL. Now he’s taking it to Oakland where the player who made it popular in college now resides. Running back Darren McFadden knows the wildcat quite well; he was the centerpiece of the "Wildcat formation," an offensive formation wherein McFadden usually lined up at the quarterback position. McFadden often played quarterback in high school, and in the Wildcat formation, he was a threat to throw the ball, to run the ball, or to hand off to another player. In a new age of spread and option offenses, McFadden has the experience that many quarterbacks are learning on the fly. “I’ve known of McFadden for a long time,” Sparano said, via Raiders.com. “My quarterback coach at the time in Miami was a fella by the name of David Lee. And David Lee was at the time the coordinator at Arkansas when they were out there and they were running McFadden and Felix [Jones] and that group of guys, doing some different things with them. I don’t want to say that word; you’ll bring it up soon enough.
