No matter how you slice it, secondary is going to be a big area of focus for the Carolina Panthers in the upcoming NFL Draft. It may be cornerback that is being viewed as the bigger concern, but safety is still a position that lacks very little depth at this point. Even after signing not one, but two former Pro Bowlers at the position, it’s still a question mark particularly given that Charles Godfrey could very well be cut to create cap space. Without Godfrey, the only real quality backup on the roster is Robert Lester who was an undrafted rookie out of Alabama last season.
There really is no guarantee that any of the current safeties are going to be on the roster past the 2014 season due to age and contract status. As a result, there’s a decent chance the position gets looked at heavily in draft. Who are the top safeties for the Panthers to look at? To find out, click here.
