When the Baltimore Ravens unloaded savvy veteran Anquan Boldin in the offseason the question was whether Torrey Smith could graduate from deep threat to all-around receiver earning Joe Flacco's trust in key situations. After five games the answer is an emphatic "yes." While the rest of the offense has mightily struggled Smith is the only player in the league to record at least 85 receiving yards in every game this season. "I think toward the last quarter of the season last year last half of the season -- he's become a guy that you can throw the ball to and you know he's going to come down with the ball" Flacco said this week via ESPN.com. "You look at before that he had the ability to make all kinds of plays and he would make a lot of plays but he'd put the ball on the ground here and there. Sometime last year he became that guy that caught really everything you threw to him and I think he's becoming more and more of that guy." F...

The Baltimore Ravens (3-2) are set to take on the Green Bay Packers (2-2) on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. The game will be televised on FOX at 1:00pm EST. The Ravens...

Key players: Ravens vs. Packers

Jimmy Smith No one is talking about Smith's importance in this game. In fact, Smith might be the most important player on the Ravens defense this week.Ever since being drafted in the first round in 2011, Smith has shown flashes of brilliance and is playing the best football of his career in 2013. But Smith has always struggled defending double moves and back shoulder fades. In...

McKinnie, Cody inactive for Ravens vs Packers

Left tackle Bryant McKinnie and defensive tackle Terrence Cody have been placed on the Baltimore Ravens' inactive list against the Green Bay Packers. McKinnie appears to be a healthy scratch. He was not listed on Friday's injury report and lost his starting job to Eugene Monroe, who is slated to make his Baltimore debut Sunday after being obtained on Oct. 2 in a trade with...

Bernard Pierce Limited Thursday

Ravens backup running back Bernard Pierce (thigh) was limited in practice Thursday but he's expected to play Sunday against the Packers.Fantasy Spin:Pierce had 46 yards on 11 carries while Ray Rice saw 33 touches in Week 5 against the Dolphins. Fantasy owners should hold him in case Rice suffers another injury but he shouldn't be started.

Ravens plan is for Eugene Monroe to start at left tackle

Bryant McKinnie reportedly OK with demotion. With recently acquired left tackle Eugene Monroe getting a full week of practice under his belt all signs point to the former Jacksonville first-round pick earning a start Sunday against Green Bay. "I would anticipate that he'll play quite a bit — possibly start" coach John Harbaugh told reporters Friday. "You might...

Packers are 3-point favorites against Ravens...

I'm not too surprised that the Pack is favored by Vegas as a visitor going into M&T Bank Stadium, considering that many bettors will take Baltimore and the points. That should mean a lot of extra action in terms of gambling volume on this game...which of course means lots of extra commission income for the sports casinos. The fact is, since John Harbaugh took over the...

PackersTalk.com Game Predictions: Packers at Ravens

Cory Jennerjohn (@coryjennerjohn) I know Joe Flacco got himself a Super Bowl win last season, but I still don’t respect him as a passer. Added to that is Ray Rice’s bad hip and the Ravens will need to get creative just to keep drives alive. Look for Jermichael Finley to get behind a collection of linebackers that is very good at rushing the passer but poor at pass coverage. Packers...

Anquan Boldin seeing double, 49ers seeking another WR weapon

Anquan Boldin has seen double teams before in his 11-year career. But never quite as many as have been thrown at him and the 49ers in the first five games of the season. "At times but not as much" Boldin said today when asked if he saw double coverage in Arizona and Baltimore. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman echoed those sentiments. "Well he's getting doubled...

49ers' pass attack has mostly been Boldin

Anquan Boldin said he and Larry Fitzgerald remain close and still keep in touch after six seasons together in Arizona when they were the league's most fearsome receiving duo. You have to wonder if the theme of their recent messages has been: Wish you were here. Both enter today's game at Candlestick Park as part of paltry passing attacks. Fitzgerald's Cardinals are...

NFL Fantasy Football Shockers So Far in 2013

Some players get a lot of pass attempts, rushes, or targets despite their individual performance or their team's standing. These situations arise when their team lacks depth at their position (no competition) or the team's strategy directly or indirectly benefits that player. Here are some statiscial anomolies so far in 2013...
