The St. Louis Rams continued their efforts to get younger and rebuild on Friday by releasing seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Torry Holt. The move, along with the earlier release of Orlando Pace, saves the Rams $14 million in cap room for the upcoming season.
Holt can probably still be a very productive receiver in the NFL. Last season was the first year since 1999 that Holt did not record over 1,000 yards and that can mostly be blamed on a horrible offensive line that couldn't protect Trent Green and Marc Bulger.
Any time a receiver is on the market, the Eagles will be the first name to pop up, as they have been all offseason. I wouldn't be surprised to see Donovan McNabb blog about it any day now. Holt would be a nice complement to DeSean Jackson and would give Philadelphia the receiving corps they've longed for since the departure of Terrell Owens.
