The Seattle Seahawks are in an enviable position; they have the luxury to keep a high priced back up because their starter is making chump change. The fact is the Seahawks can’t give starter Russell Wilson a raise even if they wanted to due to the new CBA rules that prohibit teams redoing rookies’ original contracts until the end of their 3rd year. Back up Matt Flynn probably won’t be going anywhere because quite frankly, the Seahawks do not have a dire need to trade him. However, that seems to be a good thing as the market for back up quarterbacks is drying up. According to Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times, Pete Carroll won’t just give Flynn away for next to nothing. O’Neil writes: ‘Seattle is not going to give away Flynn. The Seahawks made that clear in February when first general manager John Schneider and then coach Pete Carroll were clear about their satisfaction with the current pair of quarterbacks. No one ruled out a trade, but indicated the preference was to keep Flynn even though Wilson was clearly established as the starter. "We feel real blessed to have two quarterbacks," Schneider reiterated last week after Percy Harvin was introduced as a Seahawk. Seattle isn't boxed into a corner, either. Wilson must play at least two more years on the rookie contract he signed as a third-round pick, a deal that averages less than $1 million annually.’   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
