The trading deadline in the NFL generally is a nothing event. It's common for the bell to ring without anything major happening, and even when name players do change clubs, we can't be sure that fantasy value will ensue (consider the Randy Moss fiasco in Minnesota last year). That said, the Brandon Lloyd trade from Monday feels like a breath of fresh air. The Rams picked up Lloyd on the cheap, swapping a sixth-round pick to Denver in exchange for the contract-year wideout. The pick becomes a fifth-round choice if Lloyd catches 30 passes in St. Louis. That target shouldn't be a problem for Lloyd; he's expected to play in Week 7, the Rams have already had their bye week, and he knows the Josh McDaniels offense well from their time together with the Broncos. The McDaniels scheme made Lloyd a 77-catch, 1448-yard star in 2010. (I can almost hear McDaniels doing his Ari Gold imitation as I'm typing this.) If there's a mild loser in this news, it could be Danario ...

Rams Did Not Give WR Brandon Lloyd An Extension

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, wide receiver Brandon Lloyd did not receive a contract extension from the Rams. The Rams will pay the remainder of Lloyd's base salary, $900,000 over the next 11 games, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. The Rams could just be "renting" Lloyd because his contract expires after this season. Source: The Redzone...

Niners, Titans in play for Lloyd, too

Though the Rams have emerged as the favorites to land receiver Brandon Lloyd from the Broncos, two more teams officially are in the fray, according to the FOX and CBS pregame shows. Jay Glazer of FOX has added the 49ers to the mix, and Charley Casserly of CBS has pegged the Titans. That puts the…

Eddie Royal joins Brandon Lloyd in trade talks

The Broncos’ locker room ought to be full of gossip tomorrow when the team returns from its bye week to resume practice for the rest of the season. Not only is Brandon Lloyd available for trade but so is fellow receiver Eddie Royal. Both are eligible for free agency at season’s end. So if you’re keeping score at home, Lloyd, Royal and Kyle Orton have all asked for trades in...

Eddie Royal is available, too

Brandon Lloyd isn’t the only Broncos receiver available via trade.  Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that receiver Eddie Royal can be had, too.  (We heard talk of that last night, but we didn’t post it so Schefty gets full credit.  If anyone cares.  And no one really does.) Schefter explains that both players have asked…
