Happy Patriots Day, my friends! With the first day of workouts completed, there are already a number of news items coming out of Pats camp to keep fans interested.
Shawn Crable was injured before camp started. In other news, the sun rose in the east this morning. Seriously, what a waste. This guy was the prototypical outside linebacker in Belichick’s system. There is only one problem: in his first two full seasons, he didn’t play a damn regular season game. Belichick clearly had enough of this and cut Crable. He did leave the door open for Crable to return once he is healthy. The term should be “if” rather than “once.”
Derrick Burgess is a no-show and is considering retirement. The fact the Patriots were counting on Burgess to play outside linebacker this year is depressing enough but now they will be pinning their hopes on Rob Ninkovich and rookie Jermaine Cunningham. Eeesh…
