Detroit Lions vs. New England Patriots, 12:30 P.M. ET

Spread: New England by 6.5
Total: 51

The Lions gave the Jets all they had back in Week 9, and they held a 20-10 lead late in the fourth quarter before the Jets scored 10 points in the final 2:46 to force overtime and then won 23-20 on Nick Folk’s chip shot in the extra period.

So, I don’t doubt that they can hang with the Pats, who have had their vulnerable moments this season, despite that sparkling 8-2 record.

Detroit hasn’t won on Turkey Day since 2003, when they beat Green Bay 22-14, and since then, they’ve taken some real beatings, losing by 32 (Indianapolis), 20 (Atlanta), 17 (Miami), 11 (Green Bay), 37 (Tennessee), and 22 (Green Bay).

It’s tough to see the Lions being able to break that run against Tom Brady and co., but perhaps they could be in for a Thanksgiving Day miracle.

Whatever happens, there will be enough fireworks to keep you awake at least a little while, if your Thanksgiving dinner is more of a lunch.

SPREAD PICK: NEW ENGLAND -6.5 (Strength Rating: 6.5/10) - I think the Lions will be able to keep up for a while, but ultimately, they won’t be able to slow down the Patriots, who will triumph by a couple of scores.

TOTAL PICK: OVER 51 (Strength Rating: 9/10) - Like I said, there’ll be enough fireworks to keep you awake if you’re already trippin’ on tryptophan.
