Well, this is probably not what the Jets wanted to have to deal with before a big-time showdown with the Patriots later today. Still, when the offense is struggling, no one is happy. At all.
The NY Daily News’ Manish Mehta reported this morning that Jets WRs Santonio Holmes, Plaxico Burress and Derrick Mason “have individually gone to Rex Ryan in the past few weeks to question offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer’s system.” Yikes.
While the consensus is that the Jets will ground-and-pound their way into Gillette Stadium, it seems the receivers want to throw the ball even more. Something doesn’t fit. Holmes has criticized the team publicly, but to go behind his OC’s back and talk to the head coach is, well, troubling for Gang Green.
The trio of receivers have combined for 35 receptions for 432 yards. Pats WR Wes Welker has 40 catches for 616 yards. Clearly, this is something that bears watching today, even on the sidelines. Probably pretty good for the Patriots, though.
