Cincinnati (+4) at Houston - This is a popular pick…almost popular enough to make me want to change it. However, Matt Schaub has never played in a playoff game and has looked generally mediocre the final month of the season. The Texans defense has started to slip due to injuries and they lack weapons in the passing game outside of Andre Johnson. Beyond that, they are terrible on special teams which is a key ingredient in allowing any upset to happen. The Bengals are quietly very good on defense, good enough to think they will be within 3 points and maybe steal a win.
Green Bay (-8) vs. Minnesota - There is nothing comfortable about betting against Adrian Peterson. Yet, sometimes it is as simple as Christian Ponder in Lambeau in January. What hap...

Schaub gets first chance to change fans' minds
HOUSTON -- The one thing everybody seems to "know" about Matt Schaub is that he is not quite as good as he seems.
This has come to define the Houston Texans quarterback's relationship with Houston Texans fans. Nobody thinks Schaub isn't any good at all. Everybody can remember those 4,000-yard seasons. They can pick out a handful of anecdotes to prove Schaub'...
NFL Wild Card Preview: Seattle vs Washington
Washington Redskins vs Seattle Seahawks
4:30pm Sunday
FedEx Field, Washington
Who saw this one coming at the start of the season? Two rookie quarterbacks guiding their teams into the first round of the playoffs against one another and neither of them has done it playing the traditional rookie quarterback role. Instead of having their teams carrying them while they adjust to the speed...
Matt Schaub Gets Job Done vs. Bengals
Houston quarterback Matt Schaub completed 29-of-38 passes for 262 yards and an interception Saturday in his first career playoff victory.Fantasy Spin:This wasn't Schaub's best effort but certainly the Texans (losers of three out of four to end the regular season) are happy to get the win. Next, Houston will head to Foxborough to take on the AFC East Champion Patriots. New...
Schaub takes center stage
The Houston Texans are hosting the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday to begin the NFL playoffs for the second straight year.
This time, Matt Schaub will be in the spotlight.
Schaub will make his first postseason start as the stumbling Texans try to eliminate Cincinnati in the wild-card round, a year after they did so with a third-string quarterback.

Matt Schaub’s first playoff start a success
In a quarterback-driven world, neither one that started in this battle out-shined the other.Andy Dalton threw for a hapless -6 yards in the first half. (Yes – that is a negative sign, not the en dash that I overuse). Matt Schaub misfired the ball and Leon Hall read the quarterback’s eyes like a comic strip and returned the ball for six points in the 2nd quarter. Both defenses...

As tempting as it is to go against Matt Schaub, whose team is reeling right now, especially since this is Matt Schaub’s first playoff start (quarterbacks are 5-13 ATS at home...
NWSB’s 2013 Seattle Seahawks playoff expectations
What will it take?
Now that the Seahawks have made the playoffs as the 5th seed in the NFC, they are set to travel to Landover, Maryland to take on the Washington Redskins.
The question has been posed, “What would be a disappointing playoff run?”
Before I get into that, let’s take a look at what the 2012 Seahawks football team has accomplished this season.

Texans Down Bengals, 19-13: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
THE GOOD: Houston's OffenseThe Texans scored just one touchdown in Saturday's game, but scored on five different possessions. That tells us that Houston moved the ball consistently all day, and stuck to its game plan: giving the ball to #23. Arian Foster ran for 140 yards on 32 carries, and scored the only offensive touchdown in the game. He also added eight grabs for...

'Mad scientist' turns around Redskins' defense
(Eds: Updates. With AP Photos.) By JOSEPH WHITE AP Sports Writer At the midpoint of the season, the Washington Redskins were on pace to become the worst pass defense in NFL history, the first to give up 5,000 yards through the air.
Needless to say, Jim Haslett's stock was a bit low at the time. When head coach Mike Shanahan was asked if there would be any midseason changes to...
Wild Card weekend: Saturday games
We wait and wait and wait after the Super Bowl ends each season for the start of a new one, and once the NFL kickoffs, it seems like it ends too quickly. The playoffs are here, and we start off with a rematch of last year’s Wild Card round with the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Texans. Of course, Matt Schaub is with the Texans for this playoff run, and not TJ Yates. So...
FanDuel Play and Avoid: Wild Card
With only four games in play this weekend, there’s not a while lot you can do with your FanDuel teams. If you’re playing a large contest, odds are you’re going to find somebody with a (nearly) identical roster. That’s just the rub. With so few options out there, I’m going to tell you which options I think you should be starting/playing on your team, and who I’d be avoiding...
AFC Wild Card: Bengals @ Texans Preview & Prediction
With the regular season going by seemingly faster than usual, we now turn our attention to the dark horse’s of the NFL; the wild card teams. First, we will focus on the AFC match up between the Cincinnati Bengals as the 6th seed in the conference as they go on the road to face the Houston Texans, as the 3rd seed.
