The Colts and Jaguars couldn't be more diametrically opposed.  One is a defensive-minded team with a bruising running back content to control the clock and the line of scrimmage.  The other is a high-flying passing offense whose opportunistic defense comes up in big moments.  Yet this year, both are struggling due to a lack of production from their young QBs: The Colts, minus injured Peyton Manning, are following Curtis Painter. They're 0-9, the league's only winless team. The third-year quarterback from Purdue isn't the only issue, just the most visible. The Jaguars, who jettisoned veteran David Garrard five days before their season opener, are in the hands of Blaine Gabbert. They are 2-6 in large part because of the rookie's growing pains. Jacksonville's defense ranks No. 5 and Maurice Jones-Drew is the league's sixth-leading rusher. At so many levels, it's all about the quarterback.

Peyton Manning Reportedly Fine with Colts Drafting a Quarterback

Indianapolis Colts fans are well on their way to accomplishing their goal for the 2011 season.  The goal itself may have changed rapidly over the course of the offseason, but Indy has done a great job of conquering it.  With only six games remaining in the season, the Colts have a stranglehold on last place [...]

The Colts suck, but will they get Luck?

It’s not brain surgery. The Indianapolis Colts are 0-9 and there really doesn’t look like they have much fight left in them. And college football’s most desirable player just happens to be a guy who could very well turn the team’s fortunes around. Stanford’s Andrew Luck is a complete quarterback, the kind of player you could build a dynasty around. The kind of quarterback...

Colts favored vs. the bye

We used to joke that no one beats the bye.  Luckily, the Colts likely can't lose either according to Reggie Hayes: Curtis Painter walked off the field Sunday and saw his shadow. That means six more weeks of bad Colts football. I should clarify. We'll have one week of no Colts football – they have a bye next Sunday and are currently three-point favorites – before the...

Orlovsky wants a shot

Next man up right?  After Curtis Painter struggled Dan Orlovsky took the field last week against the Jaguars.  He'd like to come off the bye week with a starting job: Backup Dan Orlovsky wasn't necessarily lobbying to replace ineffective Curtis Painter in the aftermath of the Indianapolis Colts' 17-3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium...

Does Peyton Manning Even Want To Be A Colt Anymore?

Power rankings. You hate them. They’re so arbitrary and pointless, especially when they include all 32 NFL teams. All you want to know after a good week of NFL action is who the bestest team in the NFL right now, and which one is the absolute barrel-scraping worst. The one so terrible, Bob Costas is grilling it on TV tonight. That’s why we have TOP AND BOTTOM OF...

Polian: Colts open to drafting Manning's replacement

The Indianapolis Colts won't hold back on drafting Peyton Manning's replacement this year if the right player is available. Colts vice chairman Bill Polian said he’s already discussed that possibility with his All-Pro quarterback, and Manning is on board. “The bottom line is that if the right person is there, and it has to be the right person, then now is the time to...

Colts will consider drafting a QB

Bill Polian says the Indianapolis Colts may look for Peyton Manning's successor in the next NFL draft. Without discussing specific names, Polian, the Colts' vice chairman, told radio listeners he had already spoken with Manning about using Indy's first-round draft pick on a quarterback and that Manning is ''fine'' with that. Speculation, of course, has...

NFL Week 10 Preview: Giants' Eli Manning vs. 49ers' Patrick Willis In Game Of The Week

NEW YORK GIANTS (6-2) at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (7-1) Sunday, 4:15 P.M. ET, FOX, Direct TV (716), Sirius (NYG 85, 86 SF) Why Watch No, you are not seeing things, football fans. The near-perfect 49ers are vying for home field advantage with the perfect Green Bay Packers. Who saw that coming? Not the NFL who scheduled this game for 4:15 P.M. because a big-market, east coast team flew...

Colts-Jags Preview

Andrew Aziz of Everything Colts checks in with his weekly preview What the Colts Need To Do To Win The Colts need to play turnover-free football. Curtis Painter can't make stupid decisions and must limit the bad passes. Now, a quarterback is not the only person can turnover the ball, the running back can too. Delone Carter and fellow running backs need to hang on to the ball...

Game Preview: Jaguars vs. Colts

Jaguars Offense vs. Colts Defense If there was ever a week for the Jaguars offense to break out under rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert, it would be this Sunday against the Colts defense. The Colts defense is ranked next to last in the league in total yards allowed per game and rushing yards allowed. The Colts inability to stop the run has been exploited by the Jaguars numerous times...

Colts To See A New Starting QB After The Bye Week?

Colts coach Jim Caldwell apparently will use the bye week to determine whether a change at quarterback is required. Backup Dan Orlovsky wasn't necessarily lobbying to replace ineffective Curtis Painter in the aftermath of the Indianapolis Colts' 17-3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. But he made it clear he'd embrace the opportunity. For...
