According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, former LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu is visiting with the San Francisco 49ers today. The 49ers could use some help in their secondary.  A lot of people believe Mathieu isn’t a starting caliber corner in the NFL, but I believe he can develop into one.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode....

49ers have work cut out searching for a defensive end in draft

The San Francisco 49ers are going to have their work cut out for them on draft day for 3-4 defensive ends, after losing Ricky Jean-Francois to the Colts, and aging veterans in Justin Smith who turns 34 in September and Ray McDonald who turns 29 in September too. If you bring up Glenn Dorsey, then you’re fooling yourself. Luckily the 49ers 2013 draft needs can be filled because...

49ers recent moves display teams priorities without effecting draft position

In light of the recent moves made by the 49ers, signing offensive Tackle Anthony Davis, and traded for back-up Quarterback Colt McCoy, I cannot see these moves effecting the Niners draft priorities. In extending Anthony Davis the 49ers have locked up the big man through 2019. Davis agreed to a 5 year 37.2 million extension, which solidifies an offensive line for today and years...

Why Signing Nnamdi Asomugha Was The Right Move

Trent Baalke and Paraag Marathe are proving themselves to be master negotiators. The deal that they were able to get Nnamdi Asomugha to agree to is yet another example of their mastery. It has been reported that Asomugha will earn $1.35 million in base salary with a chance to earn an additional $1.65 million in incentives. Nnamdi chose the 49ers after contemplating whether he would...

49ers should just say no to Tavon Austin

The San Francisco 49ers are working hard this offseason to counter everything the Seattle Seahawks do because their entire offseason moves have been made specifically to counter the 49ers. The Seahawks’ acquisitions of Percy Harvin, Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril sent a stern message: the 49ers may have made it to the Super Bowl last year, but it’s our time now. It’s a proverbial...

Tyrann Mathieu: High risk, High Reward? Niners have the picks to take the risk.

In 2011 Tyrann Mathieu was the recipient of the Chuck Bednarick Award, for defensive player of the year, leading LSU with 70 tackles and 6 forced fumbles. That same season Tyrann joined Andrew Luck, Trent Richardson, and RG111 as a Heisman Trophy Finalist. The first defensive back since Charles Woodson (Michigan) to be named a finalist. Tyrann displayed dynamic playmaking ability...

Anthony Davis’ contract with the 49ers is very team-friendly

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the five-year, $37.2 million contract extension that Anthony Davis signed with the San Francisco 49ers is a very team-friendly deal. 49ers deal with Anthony Davis pretty team friendly, Loaded with de-escaltors based on weight and offseason attendance. Low base salaries — Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) April 10, 2013 This is great...

Colin Kaepernick is working on getting faster this offseason

As expected, Colin Kaepernick is spending much of his offseason trying to build on the success he and the 49ers had last season. Which is scary enough for the other 31 teams in the league.But there is one offseason goal that Kaepernick has that should be really scary for those other teams. And that’s an ever faster Colin Kaepernick in 2013.According to the Sacramento Bee, Kaepernick...

49ers G Mike Iupati “Next In Line” For A Contract Extension?

According to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle, 49ers G Mike Iupati figures to be “next in line” for a contract-extension. “In scouting, you live for those moments when you find someone that comes out at his position that isn’t likely to come out for another five to 10 years,” GM Trent Baalke said back in October. “… I don’t know that (Iupati) is a once...
