Osi Umenyiora told ESPN New York 98.7 that he's ready to move on from the New York Giants. “Now is probably time to move on.”  “I feel fortunate to be able to play 10 years in New York,” Umenyiora said on The Michael Kay Show. “It was a great run. I think now is probably time to move on.”  Umenyiora is wanting a new contract and a starting position with another team. He had 43 tackles, six sacks and two forced fumbles in 16 games, which he only started four. “There’s really not much left for me to accomplish here in New York,” Umenyiora said of the timing of moving on to another team. “Look at things that have been done here, what is there that is to be done that I haven’t done?  “We won a championship twice,” he continued. “I think I’ve been a Pro Bowl player. Everything has pretty much gone better than I could have imagined in New York. So if there is a time to leave, it probably would be now but there is no telling what would happen.” “I’ve earned the right to be a free agent,” Umenyiora said. “It’s been 10 years. I signed a seven-year deal and they made me play out all seven of those years. If they (the Giants) wanted me back, I think something would have been done before now.” Photo Credit

  • I have to agree with Osi this time, his play has fallen way off and he can't seem to stay healthy. Thanks for the memories and good luck Osi.

Umenyiora does not expect to be a Giant next season

New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora told the Michael Kay Show in New York that he does not expect to be back with the team next season. NFL Rumors: New York Giants WR Victor Cruz hopeful for long-term deal

The New York Giants found a rare diamond in the rough with WR Victor Cruz. After posting back-to-back 1,000 yard receiving seasons, Cruz is set to become a restricted free agent, and is hopeful for a long-term deal with the Giants franchise. Cruz burst on the football stage last season with a franchise record 1,536 yards and followed up his dynamic season with 1,092 yards and 10...

Victor Cruz calls Redskins 'team to beat' in NFC

If any NFL team is familiar with the landscape of the NFC playoff scenario this year, it's the New York Giants. The defending Super Bowl champions, played four of the conference's six playoff teams this season.  Throw in a couple of AFC playoff teams and that's a pretty brutal schedule and first-hand knowledge of the playoff picture. Victor Cruz has weighed in with...

NFL Rumors: DE Osi Umenyiora sounds ready to move on from New York Giants

There will be some changes on the New York Giants defensive line in 2013, and DE Osi Umenyiora sounds like he is ready to move on from the only team he has ever played for. The Giants struggled in the second-half of the regular season, losing five of their last eight games, failing to return to the post-season in 2012. The Giants defensive really struggled, ranking 28th against the...

Giants lack late season magic this time around

In reality, this all could have happened last year for the New York Giants. If not for a Victor Cruz 99-yard touchdown catch against the New York Jets, or if not for a spirited blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17, the New York Giants never would have won their second Super Bowl in four years. This time around, the Giants lack late season magic and things didn’t fall...

Giants receiver Victor Cruz set a new career high with his 10th touchdown of the season Sunday against the Eagles.Fantasy Spin:Cruz had four catches for 52 yards Sunday, giving him 1,092 yards on 87 catches for the year. It was a decline from 2011 when Cruz had 1,536 yards and averaged 18.7 yards per catch. He clearly missed having a healthy Hakeem Nicks on the other side of the field all season.

Osi Umenyiora Admits Now Is Probably ‘Time to Move on’ From Giants After ‘Great Run’

Giants frustrated but hopeful after 9-7 mark

There is an obvious reason why the New York Giants went from a Super Bowl champion to a frustrated team that missed the playoffs. It's consistency. Tom Coughlin's team lacked it in 2012 despite finishing with the same 9-7 record as a year ago when a late rush took them to their second title in five seasons. This year there was no late rush. Just two bad games against Atlanta...
