The wide receiver was let go on Saturday, barely 24 hours before New England took the field against the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. Underwood, however, handled the news with class, and was one of seven players to agree to deals with the Pats on Tuesday.
Underwood caught three passes in five games for New England after being released in the preseason by the Jaguars.
Ross Ventrone, star of the transaction log, was also signed to a future contract. In his second year out of Villanova, Ventrone played in eight games in 2011.
Linebacker Markell Carter, wide receiver Britt Davis, offensive lineman Matt Kopa, defensive end Aaron Lavarias and linebacker Mike Rivera also agreed to deals with the Patriots.
