There’s been quite a few additions and moves in the Patriots personnel department this offseason, and some of the connections are pretty familiar; in fact, their family. Let’s take a look at a few: Mick Lombardi

Mick is the son of the NFL Network’s Mike Lombardi. He recently joined the Patriots staff as a scouting assistant. His father and Bill Belichick go way back. Mike was Director of Player Personnel for the Cleveland Browns when Belichick was head coach there, and are good friends to this day.

Chris Simms

Former NFL QB Chris Simms, as we all know, is the son of Phil Simms. Simms was the New York Giants’ starting quarterback when Belichick was defensive coordinator there under Bill Parcells. Chris was a 3rd-round pick in the 2003 draft and spent five seasons in the NFL.

In May of last year, Simms was acquitted of charges of driving under the influence of marijuana when his friend took the fall. Simms’ title is not yet known, but has been spotted on the practice field with the coaching staff.

Steve Belichick

Bill’s son Steve, 25, is a former lacrosse player from  Rutgers who also took a shot at football as a long snapper in 2011. He’s been named to an entry-level coaching assistant job. Steve made the news back when he was 19 by getting arrested in a parking lot for marijuana possession. He got a slap on the wrist and the case was dismissed after 6 months of staying out of trouble.

Bill has kept Steve close by to keep him on the straight and narrow, involving him in Patriots activities to avoid any type of Andy Reid & sons situation. Steve could regularly be seen on the Patriots sideline holding a clipboard.
