Football fans, rejoice! No longer will we have to endure the painful months from the conclusion of the Super Bowl until the opening of training camps. Spring and Summer football is back, the USFL is returning. I loved the USFL in it’s day, perhaps that’s because the Tampa Bay Bandits were significantly better than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the time and they were easier to watch. The USFL, under CEO Jamie Cuadra, has seemingly learned from other failed football league attempts and will not try to take on the NFL directly. Instead, Cuadra is allowing the NFL access to players. Cuadra is keeping the operating costs at a reasonable level, with operating budgets for each team ranging between $8-10 million dollars. Eight teams are going to comprise the makeup of the league with teams being placed in cities which do not feature a NFL or MLB franchise. Currently 18 cites are being evaluated. Portland, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, Austin/San Antonio, Birmingham, B...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ronde Barber Switching Positions

According to Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune,  Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik has stated that they’ll be moving veteran cornerback Ronde Barber to safety in 2012. It’s uncommon at all for teams to move veteran cornerbacks that are at the end of their careers to the safety position, in order to maximize their talent.
