SAN FRANCISCO - OCTOBER 11: Vernon Davis #85 ofthe San Francisco 49ers is tackled by Thomas DeCoud #28 of the Atlanta Falcons at Candlestick Park on October 11, 2009 in San Francisco, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

When it comes down to Vernon Davis, a one night stand is a one night stand. Alex Smith brought the 49ers out of darkness, and now everyone is piling on one game by second year quarterback Colin Kaepernick. ESPN’s Scott Bayless said he would start him right away, kind of drastic don’t you think? Alex Smith must have gotten another concussion when he hears his head coach Jim Harbaugh say he’s going to play the hot hand.   However, when it comes to Davis, the guy who has gotten them there, is still the guy they should go with. Davis spoke to KNBR in San Francisco about how he still feels Smith is the man in San Francisco. “They’re both great players. Kaepernick played last night and happened to do a good job but Alex is still the man, no question.” “They’re different. They both bring different things to the game. Kaepernick is always in the weight room, he is strong, he can run and he’s tough just like Alex. They just bring different things to the game.” “Kaepernick is very dedicated to his craft, he wants to be successful and he will do everything and anything it takes to get there, that’s what I like about him. I’ve always talked to Kaepernick and he would always express his feelings towards the game and he’s always letting me know that he’s ready. He wants to let everyone know that he can play this game.” var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
