According to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, free agent OLB  James Harrison is the “coldest name” at this week’s owners meeting. King mentions that he “cannot find anyone admitting to being interested in the former Steeler” and adds that Harrison will probably have to play for less than half of his previously salary. This is interesting when you consider that the Steelers actually wanted to work something out with him, but he refused to take the pay cut that they proposed. Now it appears as though he’ll have to take an even larger salary reduction to play for a new team. He’s reportedly interested in all the obvious teams; the Saints, Ravens, Browns and Eagles, but we haven’t heard much in regards to reciprocal interest from these teams. We have him listed as the No. 31 best available player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.

Steelers Officially Sign TE Matt Spaeth To A Two Year Contract On Monday

As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers officially signed tight end Matt Spaeth to a contract on Monday. The deal is for two years, but the numbers are not out yet. It is hard to imagine that Spaeth received a signing bonus of more than $1 million. I would guess that it is somewhere in the neighborhood of $500,000 and possibly even less. This would put the 2013 cap number for Spaeth...

He has now added that according to an NFL source the Pittsburgh Steelers are also interested in adding Dumervil to their line-backing corps. According to Adam Schefter the Pittsburgh Steelers have expressed interest in former-New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw. Grading the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Round-by-Round Value in the 2012 NFL Draft

The story of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2012 draft class can be made into a movie. There’s David DeCastro’s comeback from a preseason knee injury, and the much longer odds Sean Spence faces returning from his knee injury. There are the stories of redemption. Mike Adams grew up a Steelers fan and had to beg the organization to put him back on their draft board after he lied about...

To the casual fan, it might not seem like a big deal that the Pittsburgh Steelers have been awarded a compensatory sixth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, as Pro Football Talk reports. However, in analyzing the round-by-round value of the last 12 Steelers drafts, we were reminded that Antonio Brown and Chris Kemoeatu were sixth-round picks. Tunstall: Pittsburgh Steelers Brass Say this is Not a Team in Transition; Any Takers on that Bet?

By Clarence Tunstall One could consider it a lack of foresight to lose so many players and not seem to have any plan or ability to keep them and expect to turn an 8-8 team into a winner. It sounds more like a team completely twisted up in the barbed wire that is the NFL salary cap with no escape or hope for immediate success in the near future. Fans like me were frustrated as the...

Mike Tomlin Says Read-Option Offense is ‘Flavor of the Month,’ Feels It Could Fizzle Out Like Wildcat

The read-option offense took off in 2012 behind the phenomenal play of quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick, Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson. But while some coaches likely stayed up long nights this offseason preparing to defend it, one coach isn’t quite sold. Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the offensive scheme at the NFL Annual Meeting on Tuesday, saying he...

Sports Illustrated to give Peter King his own Grantland-style website

It's hard to believe it's been almost two years since ESPN and Bill Simmons launched Grantland. Now, Sports Illustrated looks to play copycat by giving its most popular writer his own, uniquely-branded offshoot site, according to Deadspin. The in-house working title, according to that report, is "Kinglandia," which of course sounds ridiculous and awesome at the...

Peter King Helps Mike Florio Overcome His Hillbilly Airplane Terrors

When last we left Kinglandia royal flyer, Peter King, he forecast a LEGIT 76-ish percent chance of Colts flurries, with the possibility of a wintry mix of other nuggets. Was he right? Well, look no further than LaRon Landry and Gosder Cherilus. Name five free agent signings splashier than that. You can’t. And let us not forget Erik Walden, Lawrence Sidbury, and Ricky Jean-Francois...
