Michael Vick owns challengers on Lincoln Financial Field during the football season. But on Tuesday, it was Vick getting schooled on his home turf.
The four-time Pro Bowler, along with the Philadelphia Eagles, welcomed more than 200 Philadelphia high school students to the stadium on Tuesday afternoon for the Eagles Youth Partnership annual chess tournament, according to Philadelphia Eagles.com.
Vick, who is a fan of the game and has played chess since he was a child, took part in some matches and found himself severely overmatched, especially against one competitor.
Jowel Ammons, 18, a senior at the Philadelphia Military Academy at Leeds needed only 17 moves to dismantle Vick on the chess table.
Ammons is one of the few people to be able to say that he took down Vick one-on-one. And he'll see the fruits from his labor as well, as Vick promised Ammons a ticket to an Eagles game if he won.
"I'm going to have to get the ticket for him. I can't let him down,"...

In the 4th round of the 2012 draft, with the 123rd overall selection the Philadelphia Eagles picked Brandon Boykin, a 5-9, 182 corner from Georgia.

The Philadelphia Eagles had two members of its team appear in the NFL Network’s countdown of the top 100 players of 2012 this week. That’s good, right?
The not-so-good part is that the players were ranked far lower this year than last. But given the Eagles 8-8 season in 2011, that is hardly a surprise.
CB Nnamdi Asomugha, the free agent prize of the 2011 offseason, saw his standing...

Many observers felt the Eagles' two biggest needs going into the draft were outside linebacker and safety. They addressed the first one early on in the draft, selecting speedy Mychael Kendricks of Cal, a three-down linebacker who will move to the head of the depth-chart line at SAM. But they didn't take a safety with any of their nine picks. They did sign one after the...
The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Thursday that they had come to terms with DE Vinny Curry, OT Dennis Kelly and WR Marvin McNutt. All 3 signed 4-year deals.
The Philadelphia Eagles have now signed four of their nine 2012 draft picks., with LB Mychal Kendricks signing with the team on Tuesday.
So, I watched T.O.’s appearance on Dr. Phil on Tuesday. And it was just sad.
It was sad seeing a man with little maturity and no sense of responsibility in the midst of ruining the lives four innocent children.
Four children by four different women. You have to ask questions about the decision-making abilities of all involved, especially baby mamas 3 and 4, but in the end, it’s...

Fifth-rounder Dennis Kelly, a defensive tackle, and sixth-rounder Marvin McNutt, a wide receiver from Iowa, also signed. The Eagles have high hopes for their two second-round picks. Can the Dallas Cowboys make the playoffs in 2012? Historically the NFC East has been one of the toughest divisions in the NFL and that tendency should again hold true in the upcoming season. Last season, the New York Giants won the NFC East with a 9-7 record on the last week of the regular season
