PLAYERS: Victor Cruz
TEAMS: New York Giants
NFL Wide Receivers are divas. This has never failed to cease. It’s a perpetual cycle of whining and complaining and feeling disrespected. The names of the players whining change from year to year, but the most vocal are always wide receivers. Usually the ******** starts right before the diva starts negotiation a new contract. Usually. Insert Victor Cruz. He’s taken the diva act to all new heights. Just last week, he signed a six-year, $45 million contract, but he’s already whining that he isn’t paid enough. Cruz said in an interview on Sirius XM NFL radio that he believes he should be paid more and that he took less than he deserved. I’m not going to lie, it’s tough. It’s tough. When you understand from a numbers standpoint, and the numbers you put up, you feel like [you] deserve a certain amount of money. But I’m not going to say it’s easy when you see guys getting these huge paydays and you feel like you’re at the same caliber, if not better than some of those guys. Just to reiterate. Cruz signed his contract last week, under his own discretion. This is a contract he approved. There was no one [...]

Victor Cruz Thinks He Took Less Money Than He Deserved

The New York Giants finally got their man, when they signed star wide receiver Victor Cruz to a six-year almost $45 million extension. That’s pretty good money, but Cruz knows he left some money on the table, and as he told Sirius XM radio, he knows “he took less than he deserves.” “I’m not going to lie, it’s tough. It’s tough. Victor Cruz does not feel New York Giants paid him what he is worth

Victor Cruz and the New York Giants are happy to have gotten the 26-year-old’s contract situation squared away, but that does not mean he feels he was compensated fairly. Once a player signs on the dotted line, he no longer has a right to complain. No one forced Cruz to sign a five-year, $43 million [...]

Victor Cruz didn’t accept a “hometown discount”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke things down on SportsCenter and made it clear that wide receiver Victor Cruz didn’t take a hometown discount to stay with the Giants. I agree with Schefter, Cruz had the choice to play under the restricted free agent tender and then test free agency after this season.  There’s a chance he wouldn’t have been offered that much more money from other...
